Welcome to ScriptFrenzy 2008!

Hi all! I just wanted to get the first post in our little regional forum going here. If you're lurking, please come out of the shadows at least for a minute to say hello and tell us a little about yourself.

As for me, my name is Sarah, and I'm the acting ML for this region. I live in the Kansas City area, and this will actually be my first official ScriptFrenzy. I did my own versions in August and December of last year, and I am working on finalizing my December screenplay before April starts. I'm on my way to becoming a NaNo veteran, though, having participated (and won) three years in a row.

On any given night, I can usually be found in a local coffee shop, sipping a tall non-fat, sugar-free chai tea latte with a double shot of espresso while alternating between feverishly typing on and staring blankly at my laptop. If you're ever in the same boat, feel free to IM me on AIM at pataki2001.

Looking forward to a great and productive April!

Cheers,
S

RE: Welcome to ScriptFrenzy 2008!

Hello,

I was the ML last year for the SE Kansas region. I have NO IDEA what I am going to write about this year. In fact, I have been debating if I should spend the time fine tuning what I already have down, instead of starting something new. But, I am sure by April I will be anxious to begin.

It is exciting to see folks starting to sign up and things beginning to take shape again :0)

RE: Welcome to ScriptFrenzy 2008!

Hi Diane! I'm really excited for this year. :-) I haven't gotten to start anything new since last December, so I'm anxious to move on to new projects. I'm actually going to be writing the screenplay I'd planned on writing for Screnzy 2007 but never actually got around to writing. It's pretty different from my previous three screenplays, so I'm looking forward to it.

Do you do anything special to plan? Or just fly by the seat of your pants? :-)

Ditty,

I like to outline. I am sorta anal that way LOL. BTW I just did send email as a returning ML. It is so nice to see I won't be alone this year :0)

RE: Welcome to ScriptFrenzy 2008!

Hi everyone.

I'm Joey from Great Bend (Central Kansas, pretty much on the edge of where Western Kansas really starts).

I'm going to give Script Frenzy more of a try this year. I am currently writing on a script right now. I hope to have the first draft done in time to work on an idea for the Frenzy.

I was going to try Script Frenzy last year, but just couldn't do it. If my day job doesn't tire me out too much, I think I will be able win since I was able to write a 50 page play last summer in about two weeks.

In addition to writing my current screenplay, I'm also outlining the idea I have for Script Frenzy. Which I just got this morning in the shower.

Good luck to both of you in getting to 100 pages.

You're welcome to look me up on AIM at josephbahr if you are need of some help, support, or procrastination.

Joey

You know, I'm generally not that way, but after my most recent experience, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and just get used to it! I've written three screenplays in the past six-ish months, and I only thoroughly (like, scene by scene) planned one of them. Guess which one is the best-developed and needs the least work. :-)

I actually just sent out the well-planned one to my first round of readers, so I'm planning on spending the next couple of days employing the Save the Cat! method to my ScriptFrenzy idea. It's hard work, but I know now that it will be worth it come April. :-)

I'm glad I've got someone from whom I can get advice on this whole ML thing. :-) This is my first year MLing anything, and, while I'm excited about it, it's also kind of nerve-wracking. I'm just hoping I can get some people to some write-ins!

RE: Welcome to ScriptFrenzy 2008!

Hey, Joey! This is technically my first ScriptFrenzy, too. I went on a weeklong vacation at the very beginning of June, and it was hard to get in any sort of writing groove while I was traipsing around Walt Disney World. :-) Nothing in the works for me during April, though, so I should be good to go.

Congrats on getting your idea! That's half the battle, I think. :-) I'm planning on doing some major planning this week myself.

I'm pataki2001 on AIM, by the way, if anyone wants to chat!

Hi, everyone! I'm another Sarah, checking in from Lawrence, Kansas. I'm currently trying to decide between two projects for April, so hopefully I'll have that narrowed down by April 1!

Hey Sarah! Is this your first Frenzy or are you a vet?

RE: Welcome to ScriptFrenzy 2008!

Hi All,
I am Kendra from Olathe, KS but right now I am actually in Emporia,KS going to school to get something called an education. I do believe that's what I am getting. I am twenty year old and this is my first script frenzy. I wasn't into writing scripts last year but it seemed like my theatre app. and my intro to creative writing got me writing scripts for them so I thought why not. So here I am.

I am though a vet of Nano and currently an ML for it. So hopefully I'll bring ideas to the table for you guys.

I hope.

RE: Welcome to ScriptFrenzy 2008!

Welcome, Kendra! I actually have a friend at work who lives out that way (in Garnett, to be specific).

Do you know what you'll be writing this year or are you still brainstorming?

Cheers,
S
