Is anyone doing anything for the kick off? Do we even have a leader?!

"Is anyone doing anything for the kick off? Do we even have a leader?!"

Hi Elisam,
I just got an email confirming me as the high muckie-muck for the whole state of Alabama instead of just Alabama:North (where I live).

About two weeks ago, I tried to post a kick-off and info about the George Lindsey film festival in Florence (started yesterday throught the weekend; Billy Bob Thornton is there this p.m.), but the site deleted my message. Good intentions went astray during Nanoedmo editing and I haven't been back to post. My bad! If you're interested in trying to make the weekend, the link is http://www.lindseyfilmfest.com/ .

I can plan a kick-off and write-ins easily for my northern part of the state (taking place in HSV), but B'ham needs a leader as do points south. I will happily abdicate my post for those areas (and for Alabama:North if someone else wants the honors and duties).

For Alabama:North, let's do our kick-off in Huntsville at the Coffee Tree coffee shop and book store at the intersection of Bailey Cove Rd. and Willowbrook Dr. (across from Grissom High School and roughly behind the Amoco station on the corner) on Saturday, March 29 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. I have an Edmo edit-in there the previous two hours and one or two of us might stay (me and hubbie, in particular), but there's not been an issue with overcrowding so far. If we're still fascinated with talks of plays, et al, we can retire to the Casa Blanca restaurant in the same strip of buildings for dinner afterwards.

Let me know plans for B'ham and points south, y'all. And remember, you, too, can aspire to high muckie-muck duties!

There is also a screen writing workshop in Huntsville on April 5. Anyone interested in the flyer, email me at readfish_at_mchsi_dot_com and I'll send it your way. If someone can tell me how to do it, I'll attach it here or I can copy it into a forum posting as well (although I imagine the formatting will be lost, drat).

RE: Kick Off

Well, I just signed on as the South Alabama/Birmingham ML, so will post details soon about the kick off party! Still figuring out details, etc.

amy, Thanks for the quick response! I hope your kick-off party and writing workshop go well. We'll be in touch I am sure as we are sharing this big ole' state.

RE: Kick Off

I've managed to set myself up so I can't get into any of the other regional forums. What a dunce I am with computer-thingys! Anyhow, if you let me know when your events are, I might join you sometime as I'm frequently in the B'ham area for bizness.

Hope all is going well -- I know there are at least 3 of us this year so I won't be totally alone,
Amy

RE: Kick Off

Interesting... I never got the email asking if I wanted to be the ML for South Alabama like I was last year. I can do Mobile and Baldwin counties if nobody else wants them. We didn't do much last year because there were not a lot of participants. I'm late to the game because I didn't know we moved to April!
