Louisiana -- Check in here!

Who are you? Where are you? Why are you doing this to yourself?

Those are the questions we'd like to hear answered as we prepare for this wonderful insanity that we call ScriptFrenzy.

I'm Christee. Moved from Baton Rouge to Alexandria in December. Author by profession. (Translation: A person whose only entertainment that she can afford is to go and stare at her books on the library shelf to see if anyone checks them out...)

No clue on my plot for ScriptFrenzy this year.

How about you?

RE: Louisiana -- Check in here!

I'm Becca, a librarian in Lafayette. Christee, I can let you know how your books circulate here if you really want to know!

I don't know why I do this to myself, but I seem compelled to sign up and give it a shot anyway.

I have a thought for a historical movie about Nellie Bly, the stunt reporter, but I may yet panic at the thought of actual research and do something fantastical that I can just make up.

RE: Louisiana -- Check in here!

Becca --

I know what you mean about doing this to ourselves. There are lots of easier things I could do in April - like completing my taxes and creating a plan to see how much blood I can sell to cover the bill or trying out that home tonsillectomy kit -- but I feel like I have to try this again. I made it through last year, but to call what I wrote "poo" would be insulting to poo everywhere.

This year I might try to use one of those "plot" things that I've always heard of... Who knows?

Good luck and thanks for checking in!

RE: Louisiana -- Check in here!

Hello people- yes I'm here too. I'm a student who is taking on the crazy task of writing a script even though I already have enough going on.

My plot for script frenzy is basically the same as my plot for nanowrimo was. I just realized that since the Art Class Chronicles was actually based on a true story it would work better as a script rather than a novel. Plus, I am just too much of a procrastinator to go back and edit what I wrote in November because I rambled- a lot. So, I am here to turn my messed up book into a screenplay. This should be fun.

RE: Louisiana -- Check in here!

You are so right. We always have enough going on, don't we?

I have too much happening too, but this seems like the perfect thing to keep me from working on the things I should be doing.

Art Class Chronicles -- I just like the way that sounds. Can't wait to buy my ticket to see it!

Good luck & good writing!

RE: Louisiana -- Check in here!

Hello peeps. Like my RL buddy awesomelyme (waves) I'm a student who can't resist the allure of the Frenzy. I'm thinking sci-fi or mystery for my script, or maybe both. Instead of think up plot stuff, I plan on harassing my friends and family to do the Frenzy too.

RE: Louisiana -- Check in here!

Great! We need some more representation in our state! Frenzy is still so new that it doesn't have the automatic crowd of NaNoWriMo, so our best way to get more folks involved is word of mouth.

We'll do some online write-ins with cheap and tacky prizes too -- so tell them they need to get in on this thing so they have a chance to win useless plastic items!!

RE: Louisiana -- Check in here!

I'm Lucille from Rayne, LA. 62 years old, retired school teacher, trying to become an author.

I've joined Script Frenzy because writing scripts has been playing around on the edge of my brain for a few years, but I've stubbornly stuck with trying to rewrite and rewrite my novels. Haven't sold anything but a couple of short stories so I'm not getting rich. Mostly I've joined to try to develop some kind of self discipline. I find myself procrastinating too often nowadays.

Wish I could start a writers' group right here in Rayne since I can't do much traveling. I'm taking care of a daughter who's in a coma at my house.

RE: Louisiana -- Check in here!

By the Way, I forgot to mention that I need someone to tell me what is expected of us who have joined the Louisiana division.

I will try my best to check in here and read the posts as often as I can, but I can't promise anything. Last time I spent so much time on a group chat for 3 days, then shied away from the computer for almost 2 weeks to keep from dealing with emails. Just now getting back in action.

RE: Louisiana -- Check in here!

Lucille --

I'm so glad you're joining us! I'm Christee, the ML for Louisiana and, as far as the LA region goes -- you have no specific responsibilities. Just write!!

The region is here as your support team. We get on here to post encouraging words to each other, to gripe, and to avoid real writing. And about once a week, we'll have online write-ins, where we meet at a given time, write one hour on our own, then post our word count to see who cranked out the most words. The winner gets a very cheap, very tacky prize that I will mail to him/her.

With your responsibilities, I can imagine you have lot of valid reasons not to write. Congrats to yourself on dedicating yourself to this effort. I hope it's the beginning of a successful new avenue of your writing career!
