Yeah, there are 22 days until the Frenzy starts. But I've already had a disaster.

The power adaptor for my computer seems to have just worn through, leaving a nice little burn spot in the wire. Obviously, I'm not going to be using that any time soon. Nor is it likely that I'm going to get the $80 (!) required to replace it any time soon.

Grr.

Oh no! You're not the only one suffering from hardware disasters. The laptop I bought from a friend wound up getting damaged in shipping, and it won't be possible to replace it until after Screnzy starts.

I don't have internet on mine, but my dad does, so a good old floppy disk for me.

The week before Nano started, my computer's harddrive crashed and it was out of commission for all of November. Fortunately, I was able to borrow a laptop from my mom to do Nano.

Now I'm just crossing my fingers because about a month ago, the same laptop crashed AGAIN. It's currently back up and working, but I have no idea how long it'll last. *sigh* Guess I'll just have to type fast, and save every two minutes on my flashdrive. Oh the joys of technology (and it's only barely 4 years old!).

If all you need is a new power adapter, ebay's got heaps of them really cheap (under $10). Unless you have something with an unusually shaped plug, like an alienware.

My Gateway (named Gat) crashed during two straight NaNoWriMos and one subsequent NaNoFiMo. The problem, it turned out, was the power supply; it was going out. I replaced it, and the only problem I've had since is procrastination. And I'm working hard on that. (Here I'll take the time to thank NaNoPubYe for their Daily Reports forum. It's become my strongest weapon against the menace of procrastination.)

We had all three family computers crash during Nano '06. This past year it kindly waited until after nano was over. Now i have a new one that just has an overactive mouse clicker and for that I am thankful. Best of luck with your technical issues. They can be a complete pain.

Could this be the NaNoWriMo/Screnzy curse...?

Found the Disk..where's the computer?

Big disaster with a long echo, in that my Father in law died in Feb :((( and I have to go and stay at his old house ( which is over a hundred miles away from mine) to preper for a memorial,and do paperwork etc. So I'll be there it looks like up to the end of April but here is the extra kick... British Telecome have cut off the house internet.So I have everything ready to do the Screnzy and will do it on my laptop,but with no contact with this site from this Monday onwards.:( With luck :)the librarian there will be kind and let me join as a temp member but if not, I'll have to hope I'll be able to make it to download on the very last day. :( And to add to this tale of woe I'll miss the delivery of my nice new plot machine T shirt:((

My computer decided yesterday to pack it in for good. My dad finally got it working again, but I can only go on it for about half an hour at a time before I'm faced with the BSOD again. He's told me I should only go on there in safe mode, and only to copy files onto the server in case anything else happens. Which of course means I'm stuck using the family computer, but I can only use that until my dad get back from work, which is usually the same time I finish my homework. Yay.

I can't get my parents to buy me a new computer though, so I'll have to make do. I'm sure I can do it. Maybe.

My issue is having a computer.
I don't have a laptop, so I spend a lot of my write ins sitting there doodling on paper for an hour.

So, I'll do what I can from the shared computer I use. Although, now that I am using online formatting software, I can go to a library to write if I want to/need to...
