RE: Let Us Help You!

No Pirates of the Carribean please, I've tried that.

Anyways: A pirate story dealing with pyschology, raiding and general cockiness. Please NO WORDS OR SINGING unless it's a Haljueah(sp?) chorus or something. I prefer a bit dark and fast paced, but slow and something that would make me cry (I cry easily) would work. Please and thank you!

Blue Man Group. Try Opening Mandelbrot. I have so much fun writing to that one. And you might have some fun looking around OCRemix for good video game remixes, a lot of variety in free music there. You might enjoy their Doom remixes... definately some good stuff in there.

RE: Let Us Help You!

I need songs that are basically good but not distracting, and by good I mean not a lot of really rappy stuff or really screamy stuff or really twangy stuff. Words are good and fine. Distracting is Britney Spears or Simple Plan. Lyrics that are catchy and distracting. xD Michael Buble is someone whose music I'm using a lot now - cute stuff that sounds nice that I don't feel obligated to concentrate on.

That's rly wordy but not nearly as complicated or picky as it seems like it should be. I just want some good general stuff to choose from, I'm kind of music dumb.

Thanks in advance. :3

RE: Let Us Help You!

Ever hear of Switchfoot? Their "New Way to Be Human" album is a little repetitive, but not very distracting...to me at least. But the lead singer sort of has a whiny quality to his voice. Hmm...

Relient K! Try them. A little punky in some parts (imo), but nice background music. Nothing twangy and no rap. Good lyrics. Yeah, that's my suggestion.

RE: Let Us Help You!

Have you tried Muppet Treasure Island? It sounds silly, but in my opinion it's some of the best music by that composer. Just uncheck the songs.
Also, you might like the Hook soundtrack. It's by John Williams, and it's not quite like Harry Potter or Star Wars, but somewhere inbetween.
Try them.
CAPTAIN

--
Pull up a chair, sit on the floor:
I'll tell you a story you've heard before.
One bright day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight.
Back to back, they faced each other,
Pulled out their swords and shot each other.
The dead policeman heard the noise,
Saved the lives of the two dead boys.
If you don't believe this lie is true,
Ask the Blind man, he saw it too!

RE: Let Us Help You!

PixieSailor,

You could try creating a Michael Buble' station on Pandora and let it stream as long as you are online. I've done that with a couple of artists and it's worked out pretty well.

Hope that helps. :-)

RE: Let Us Help You!

Okay, so I'm adapting a novel by Sarah Dessen called This Lullaby. It's your typical teen romance - boyo meets girl, girl tries to deny that she actually likes boy, boy and girl get together, girl is a commitmentphob, they break up, family drama ensues, they end up together in the end. Definately PG-13 - lots of drinking and smoking and sleeping around. I'm looking for mostly pop music. I don't listen to much myself and thus don't have much knowledge of the genre.

Dragonrose:
-shudders- I don't like the soundtrack, but the "Juno" soundtrack may work. Also try Panic At the Disco, Britanny Spears, Miley Cyrus...or go on a typical teen website and you'll find ton of answers there! (Myspace is a good example) Good luck, hopes this helps!

RE: Let Us Help You!

In response to DeeJayBunny, I would second the Hook suggestion - one of my favorites, with some amazingly beautiful parts - but it's not very dark, and in parts it's quite ... swashbuckling. (I only mention that b/c Pirates of the Caribbean didn't work.)

Maybe try Speed. It's dark, energetic and very repetitive.
