"Hi, I'm New" or "The Obligatory Introduction Thread"

It's time to start getting in position for the Frenzy. We'll be spending the month of April together, so we'd better make sure we know who everyone is. I'll start.

Hi, I'm Jon aka windral, and I'll be one of the South Bay Municipal Liasons for Script Frenzy this year. It's my first time, so be gentle. I haven't done SF before, but I completed my Nanowrimo last November with a few days to spare, so 100 pages of script should be easy right? I expect my friends and family won't be seeing me much next month...

I'm a 20 year old would-be college student currently serving my sentence at a coffee shop no one's ever heard of unless they work at Yahoo! I have an on-again off-again, sometimes long-distance, love-hate relationship with writing that is in the process of moving toward script writing. We're seeing a counselor.

So who are you? Why are you here? What do you hope to accomplish in the next month of insanity, caffeine, and scripts? Next caller!

RE: "Hi, I'm New" or "The Obligatory Introduction Thread"

Hello, I am Silvia aka Munichmaedchen. I am 29, have a 28-year-old son, a 18-year-old daughter and a one-year-old granddaughter (boy this went down smoothly).

I won NaNoWriMo three times and started to explore script writing last year. It is a different kind of writing - actually for me it is the anti writing. Leaving words out seems to make a better script than adding some. I liked the new approach, kind of, and started to take script writing classes and yes, a production class will follow soon. It is a great way for me to express myself.

I live in Gilroy and work in Tino and try to catch the write-ins in Campbell on Sundays if available. Hope to see y'all there!

RE: "Hi, I'm New" or "The Obligatory Introduction Thread"

Hello, Lisa here, or marcopolo. I live in Santa Clara. This will be my second Frenzy. Last year I collaborated with my brother in Boston on a screenplay. Long-distance sibling collaboration was an interesting experience, but my grownup little brother can still be a whiny little brother, so I'm going solo this year. I'll be adapting one of my novels that started feeling more like a movie than a book as I was writing it. I had a lot of fun scriptwriting for the first time last year, and I'm excited to try it again.

Hi,
I'm coffeemug. I think I where I need to be. I live in the Monterey Area and this is my first Script Frenzy. I also had the joy of doing Nano for the first time this past year, but came up short on my word count. I write general fiction and have never written anything like this before so we'll see how it goes.
Other info: I am 31, female, recently returned to college after a ten year absence. I enjoy coffee and beer drinking, music, reading, hanging out with friends, playing video games and driving around town aimlessly.

skneal aka Steph. Downside of 34, and at the start of April it will be the upside of 35. South San Jose is where I hang my keyboard.

I'm glad I've joined you here at Over Achiever's Anonymous. It all started two years ago when I completed my first Nano... in 12 days. Last year was worse, I hit 50K by day 10 then went on to write 106K by day 30. I know you'll help me curb my need to over achieve, right? I'm in the correct place right?

This is my first crazy venture into the world of playwriting. My play is a murder mystery type thing with 5 possible endings. Challenging for the slaves... uh I mean actors, but what's life without a few challenges right?

Act One Scene One:
Men in white coats come to take the playwright away...

RE: "Hi, I'm New" or "The Obligatory Introduction Thread"

*waves* My name is Arike, a.k.a. Arike (pronounce as Erika if you're from the States). I'm a twenty-year old student that is currently on an exchange here in UC Santa Cruz, where I'm having such a good time that the weeks are flying by like a jet airplane trying to get a speed ticket. My family has lived in Sunnyvale for a couple of years, which is why I ended up here in the first place.

Since I'm stumped for a story this year, I've decided to abandon all pretensions of originality and drew all good ideas from a variety of generators and the plot machine, even a few dares. I love writing, though I haven't done any recently to my deep, deep shame, except for the knee-jerk fragments that come out every few days. So, since my creative writing part is still alive and kicking, I figured Scriptfrenzy would once again by a great low-pressure high-energy way to get some pages written. I love both Nano and Frenzy, and I've done one three times, for the other this is my second time.

Hi, I'm Delia, aka Daisley. I'm 15 (youngest one here so far?) and I was born and raised in San Francisco, but am living in Davis now.

I did NaNoWriMo for the first time last year, and even though I've been writing fiction since I was about 5, I have never written anything in script format. I thought I was nervous about NaNoWriMo last year, but I think I'm far more nervous about trying something so new.

I'm still thinking through preliminary ideas that will work as screenplays, but even the concept of using a forum in correlation with writing is pretty new to me. *waves nervously*

Hi, it's Alexandra (Alex). I'm from San Jose - well, a little suburb of it, I suppose, but isn't SJ a city of suburbs? - but we're moving downtown in three weeks or so...yay for living in an *apartment* with actual *tall buildings* and online school for the rest of the semester, but not yay for moving during...hm....the first week of Screnzy!

Anyway, yeah, hi! Never done NaNo or Screnzy, but looking forward to it. I have an outline going, but it's rather - more like very - vague.

I'm Steve aka storyist, your other South Bay ML. I'm in Sunnyvale and am looking forward to meeting everyone in person!

Like most folks, I have no clue what I'm writing this year. Maybe a thriller. Maybe a quirky buddy comedy. Something to do with taxes perhaps.

forest_of_memory here, reporting for screnzy.

I had the joy and insanity of learning about, signing up for, and beginning Nano all on November 1st last year, so this is my first time actually preparing for a crazy month-long writing extravaganza. Perhaps I should make an outline? Or try to come up with some characters or a setting?

Hi, I'm Marte, aka - mmejstrik. I live in San Francisco and am an actor who is just starting to explore script writing. I've hacked out a couple of short stage plays and took a begining script writing class on line, which I loved.

Looking forward to meeting you all here at Script Frenzy and can't wait to get started...even though I have no idea what my script will be about. I'll just let it find me - that seem's to work. Later
