Welcome to ScriptFrenzy!

Ah, how sweet it is - the tick-tack of fingers on the keys of the computer keyboard, the soft glow of the monitor... I can't wait to get started!

I'm Janna, and I'm ML for all of Alberta this year. I typically co-ML Calgary for NaNoWriMo, and I ML all of Canada for NaNoEdMo. You could say I'm a bit obsessed with this sort of thing. ;)

I've been a NaNoWriMo participant since 2001 and won in 2006; I've been MLing since 2005 and moderating since 2006. My first shot at NaNoEdMo was 2007; it was also my first attempt at MLing. This is my first year with ScriptFrenzy as both a participant and an ML. I do think that my experience MLing for NaNoEdmo and NaNoWriMo will come in handy, though!

Please feel free to introduce yourself here. Let us know who you are, where you live (just what community is plenty), what your participation record is, and what kind of script you're writing this year.

I look forwards to getting to know all of you!

RE: Welcome to ScriptFrenzy!

Hi, I'm Zoe

I've never written a script let alone done Script Frenzy but I'm willing to give it a shot. I live in Red Deer and so far my script is a great big BLANK. I'm not sure if I want to do something for tv or the stage. I guess I'll see. Anyway I hope to hear from everyone else that lives in good old Alberta.

RE: Welcome to ScriptFrenzy!

Hi there, I'm Josh and I live just outside of Edmonton, this will be my first year doing ScriptFrenzy but I did NaNoWriMo last year ( I didn't win though, there were some family health issues) but I am very excited about doing script frenzy, I have always thought about writing a movie and this is the perfect chance to do it!.
I have no idea what my frenzy will be at the moment, but I think that I will use the dares in the forum to they're utmost weirdom-ness.
cant wait to start!,
Josh.

RE: Welcome to ScriptFrenzy!

I go by Tiana digitally and since every Nanoite knows me as Tiana (103k!), and heck, I get called Tiana at events in Edmonton even though people KNOW I'm Tiffany. I think. Yeah. I'm Tiana. I'm more likely to respond to that online anyway. :)

I'm not from Edmonton, but that's the region I stubbornly stick with due to my love of the friendly and maybe not so friendly competition from that region. I'm from Alberta, an hour or so away from Edmonton. Far away from Calgary, heh. I've done Nanowrimo three times: 50k in '05, 100k in '06, and 103k in '07. I did ScriptFrenzy last year and I'm trying to remember my numbers... I did three scripts, just barely broke 20k with mine and the one co-written with Audreidi, and then 7k cowritten with my mom, and we padded it to 20k but didn't verify. Uh-huh. That feat of padding was ABSURD. The script was also incomprehensible.

Every one of these have been fantasy and no surprise, my current script is going to be fantasy like last year. I tend to write with a touch of urban fantasy or even sci-fi crossovers, like my '06 Nanowrimo. (That was a good story. XP) Unlike previous years, I actually have a good idea of what I'm jumping into this time. It may turn out to be my first break from an ongoing series of character repeats too, though we'll see how well that goes. I'm also racing Screnzier Aubin to THE END.

Oh yeah, the story. Anyway, it's a steampunk/noir/sci-fi crossover, I think. I've drawn a few characters, but basically it involves a clockwork powered superweapon and airships and a crazy genius and his family and a detective. :)

Scripts are HARD. It'll be a graphic novel script, I think.

Good luck MLing for SF, Janna! And your script too.

RE: Welcome to ScriptFrenzy!

I'll just say have fun everyone. I won't be participating, since I suck at writing scripts. Go for the gold!

((Tiana, I may or may not see you next week :P))

RE: Welcome to ScriptFrenzy!

I suppose I should do my own note about what I'm writing...

It's futuristic fiction, based on an album by one of my favourite Christian alternative rock musicians, Eric Champion. The album is called "Vertical Reality", so the movie will also be called "Vertical Reality". It's pretty cool. The album tells a story without really giving a lot of details, so I took the basic (really basic) outline given there and filled out the plot, added lots of characters, etc.

Good to see that I'm not alone!

RE: Welcome to ScriptFrenzy!

What I'm writing? Uhh... I'm not sure. I have a few ideas.

1) My zombie novel from NaNoWriMo last year, despite being a little over 50,000 words, was horrible. But the main concept, in my mind, sounds kind of cool. So I was thinking either a movie, or possibly continuing TV series (like the Terminator show). It would probably be a prequel to the novel. More about the beginnings of Haven (just like it sounds. A safe place, human settlement with big walls), and how the Bloodhounds (zombie hunting / search and rescue squad) was formed. And, of course, we'd get to know the characters. The TV show idea would leave episodes for flashbacks and whatnot... it'd be different than most zombie stories. Might be neat.

2) The story I was thinking about writing but just can't get into. I think it works better as a TV series than a movie. It's about a group of mercenaries in a fantasy/steampunk/sci-fi type world... gritty places, but there is magic. I haven't completely sorted that one out.

3) I could try that comedy about people in a call center again... but that didn't work out for me last year too well.

I should, hopefully, have my mind made up by April 1... hopefully.

I'm Chloe!

I had given up hope of an idea for this when I got hit tonight. Three hours before start. Oooooh yeah, going well.

Anyways, I'm going to be writing comic scripts for a webcomic I write and a friend of mine draws. There is an over-arching storyline so I feel it should work quite well. It's called Im/Mortal and it's about a romance between a warrior angel and a human.

I have done NaNoWriMo for five years now, I'm pretty sure. This last year I hit 102,000 words. I've never done ScriptFrenzy before and I'm excited. *shimmy*
