I found some similar topics in this forum, but nothing that seemed to address this specific issue.

I realize that it's incredibly rare that a screenwriter would indicate a song that's playing in the soundtrack of the film, but let's imagine for a moment that it's actually part of the story in this case.

I want to indicate the song that's playing and the exact snippet of lyrics that are being sung (realizing that if the film were ever produced, a different song may need to be selected for budgetary reasons).

How would I indicate this?

You make a note in the Action that a specific song is playing. If it paces with the action, then you give it its own character heading as "MUSIC" with the lyrics specifically quoted there.

The hubby used it last year, and I remember dealing with it from then.
