Hello, Mainers!

In recognition of this, my second Script Frenzy, I would like to present five intriguing facts about Maine.

1. Maine is the only state in the entire United States whose name is composed of only one syllable.

2. Stephen King wrote an article for Entertainment Weekly in which he reviewed various TV programs; his review of talk-radio host Glenn Beck's CNN show read thusly: "Satan's mentally challenged younger brother." Beck later adopted this phrase on a t-shirt.

3. The town of Lubec, Maine is the eastern-most point within the contiguous United States.

4. Charles Waugh, an anthologist and college professor who has published books with Isaac Asimov and Richard Matheson, teaches a class at the University of Maine at Augusta in which his students research and present profiles of famous or notable Mainers.

5. Despite a general image of sparkling waters, transparent air, and trees galore, Maine's air is actually very polluted, due to the state being on the end of a giant north-bound climate path that covers several states. All the air from the lower states, including New Jersey, ends up in Maine.

Perhaps these items will inspire a script or two.
