Alabama:North write-ins scheduled

We've got our regular HLA/NASFCAS write-ins going at Barnes & Noble, Noon to 2 p.m. on these dates and locations:

Second Sat., April 12, B&N, University Dr.

Fourth Sat, April 26, B&N, Bailey Cove Rd.

Also, on April 5, some of us will be attending the Gena Ellis screenwriting workshop, 4-6 p.m. at Flying Monkey, Lowe Mill -- see separate topic at this forum for more details entitled "April 5 Screenwriting workshop with Gena Ellis." Thanks!

I may have scheduled write-ins at the Coffee Tree on Bailey Cove Rd. at Willowbrook Dr. on April 5 and April 19. (Sorry, my brain is already buzzard-fodder this week!) If so, the time is 2:00-4:00 p.m. (leaving a bit earlier on April 5 to make the workshop, however). I will check with the shop and correct the posts here.

RE: Alabama:North write-ins scheduled

Looks like family obligations will have us missing the write-in today, so sorry.

Hope I see some of you at the screenwriting workshop tonight.

RE: Alabama:North write-ins scheduled

Thanks Kristen, wish you could have been there!

The workshop went very well. Gena Ellis is a veteran screenwriter at this point and went over the ABCs and the absolute F--format. She taught us how to write loglines by making us do them, egad!

We were treated to a viewing of the Aussie film Angela's Decision made on her screen play (welcomed with cheers by a group of local Aussies) as well as a live read of her latest script The Black Tulip based on a novel by Alexander Dumas. She topped the evening off with a comedy by another writer, The Accidental Activist. It was an absolute hoot and a fun end to an informative evening.

Keyboard Warrior, hubbie Whtbearfan and I attended. We made an announcement about Script Frenzy and invited the other workshoppers to join us here. Gena, who I met through Nanowrimo some years back, plugged our efforts as well.

IAG--Hope to see you at B&N University Dr. next Saturday at high Noon for a screenwriting shoot-out at the bo-OK corral ;-P,
Amy

RE: Alabama:North write-ins scheduled

Redd Herring, I am not going to be at the Coffee Tree tomorrow. But I will try to make the write-in the next week at Barnes and Nobles.

I hope your movie is going well. If not, there always a massed armanda of intergalaxtic Earth invading purple furry alien chipmunks hiding behind the dark side of the moon to carry the plot foreward. They will never see that coming.

I think (in my case) it is much harder to write two short stories than just one long story. In a long story, I can throw in useless conversations about the weather, decor of the starship, and about who does the bad guy alien's hair.

And I have to remind myself I am writing for television. So I have to censor all the naughty love scenes for the married couples unlike I do for my novels or play.

At some point, I might say forget all the self censoring and just write my two stories for cable channels like HBO. Provided married couples in my shows are married in real life.

Happy Frenzying, Redd Herring and all other Frenzy writers.

Keyboard Warrior,
That does it -- at only 36 pp., we're adding chipmunks.
See you noonish,

RE: Alabama:North write-ins scheduled

We had a great write-in yesterday plus hubbie Byran (whtbearfan) and I stayed until we FINISHED our screen play.

Thanks, Keyboard Warrior, for coming to this last write-in and being such a great support. We're home today, but would be happy to OCR/scan those typewritten pages for you before the April 30 deadline.

Good luck, break a pencil, to everyone in having a successful Script Frenzy,
Amy

Wow, way to go!

Sorry I haven't been as much of a cheerleader this month as I'd like ... rough family stuff going on, plus computer issues. Again. Ack.

However, I've got ONE WHOLE PAGE on my script and Ted and I have about 3 pages on our collaboration. Yay YWP!

RE: Alabama:North write-ins scheduled

Kristen,
Sorry it's been such a rough month for you all. Work on those things requiring your attention now and get back together with us anytime. The 2nd and 4th Sat. write-ins are year-round events for our local HLA and NASFCAS writers' groups. Pop me an email any time you feel like writing company or coming to one of their meetings they have on the 1st and 3rd Wed. Are you set up on the huntsvillewriters yahoo group?

As for the script, you've got a start already even if it's a small one. You can work on it when you're ready or attack it for next year's frenzy. I don't think 1-3 pages disqualifies a script for a trouper like you.

See you at least by nanowrimo or maybe edmo, right?

RE: Alabama:North write-ins scheduled

Oh definitely by Nano. I'm just not a script person, though I still want to try again some year. I didn't even know we had a Huntsville writers yahoo group. Anyway, my mom's health issues (the current family crisis) ought to be resolved by Nano, so if I can come up with a plot, I'll be good to go. Assuming the laptop complies, LOL.

Been doing Zette's two year novel course over on the Forward Motion website ... I'm a bit behind but the slow pace has been good to at least keep me thinking about writing even during the crazy weeks.

I'm glad you guys are still all persevering though! and winning! Yay!
