St Trinians

I watched the new St Trinian's on my last intercontinental flight and I thought I'd recommend it. The plot is hugely implausible, and I can't understand why the Headmaster's job has been taken by a transvestite (she's very passable, but the fact that she's transvestite doesn't contribute even a few single entendre jokes to the story.) The reason for watching is the background scenes: a girl carrying a large axe downstairs for no apparent reason, for instance, and a mob gathering around a hockey team's bus with villainous intent. Then there's a brilliant send up of a television quiz with the winning team being fed the right answers through earpieces. (I've heard that YTV does something like this on Countdown but they probably don't.) Most important, you watch it for the girls. The girls are gorgeous and the costumes daring in the circumstances, and the choice of music absolutely rocks. Next time you're on an intercontinental flight, stay awake and watch it.

RE: St Trinians

I don't think she was supposed to be a transvestite.
It's sort of the way they do Edna Turnblad in Hairspray.
You weren't really supposed to think it was a guy.

But yeah, that aside I've seen it twice now.
Loved it.
