is anyone really behind?

I've only written 3 pages...is it possible for me to still finish?

RE: is anyone really behind?

Yes, it sure is.

I'm at 13 pages. I wrote 11 pages on Apr 1, 2 pages yesterday, so I'm behind too. This is all new to me - my previous writing has been short stories. I don't know about you but I'm having problems finding the energy to write. Once I get home from the office I have zero energy left.

However: it is still possible for either of us to make the 100 page target. All it takes is a sudden burst of energy and either inspiration or perspiration to make it happen. Ok, so maybe several bursts of energy. But yes, it IS possible.

If you want to make your 100 pages, then you have it within you to make the 100 pages. Hang in there.

RE: is anyone really behind?

I'm pretty seriously behind as well. I failed the last two NaNos really bad, and you know what made me the most disappointed in myself? Not that I didn't win, but that I gave up before November was over. I'm not doing that this time. I'm writing all the way til midnight on April 30, and I'll still be proud of what I've accomplished, whether I get to 100 pages or not.

Of course, I'm still aiming for 100 ^^.

Is there a word war thread? Word wars seriously helped me last year.

RE: is anyone really behind?

Definitely possible. I'm on page 90 right now - averaging 10 pages a day. A few folks (many whom have already finished) averaged even more pages/day than me. You have PLENTY of time! Now GO FOR IT! Good luck

RE: is anyone really behind?

If you've written 3 pages, you have 97 to go, and 22 days (including today) to do it. Five pages a day and you're there.

I'm a little behind myself (started with 24 pages of a work in progress; currently at 48). But by God, I will make it, and so can you.

My advice: don't worry about whether it's any good. Just keep putting words down. Doesn't even matter if a given sentence makes sense. If you've got a beginning and an ending, then 100 pages of weird stuff in the middle can still be a useful first draft, as long as it's full of ideas relevant to the story. There have no doubt been many good scripts that had a god-awful first draft.

Winston Churchill's best three word sentence: Never give up.

RE: is anyone really behind?

Just keep writing. No matter where you are, just stop and jot down a few words, a scene or two maybe, and keep pressing onwards. If you stop now and don't get back into the script, you may not finish -- unless you like racing the clock.

I started over on Day 3, with a completely new re-write, and I've made up the pages. But so long as you keep writing and don't just stop and stay where you are, you should be able to finish.

Last year I wrote the 20k word script in 20 days. So yes, it's possible. XD Good luck.

RE: is anyone really behind?

I concur. "Behind" is a relative term. Many have come back from the brink to win this thing, including myself. Yesterday morning I was on page 0. Now I'm on 25. In 22 days I'll be done.

Set a pace for yourself and you'll be gold.

RE: is anyone really behind?

Absolutely. I canned everything and started over this past Sunday, and wrote 25 pages in one day - from scratch - to get caught up. You can definitely still finish!

RE: is anyone really behind?

I just changed stories the night before last and am now at 7 pages. But I've got a bit of momentum so I'm hoping to pull through.

I kinda figure I'm screwed though, since I've got to shoot three 5 minute films for 3 different classes in the next 2 weeks. Yea April!
