Indicating different ages of characters in my screenplay

Ok, so basically in my screenplay my character jumps between being a child, a teenager and an adult in a non-linear way, but it's not in flashbacks. I was wondering if I should include this in the character title when they speak (eg. JESSY AGED THIRTEEN), as obviously it would be played by a different actor, or is it fine to just put it in the action?
Thanks :)

RE: Indicating different ages of characters in my screenplay

I was in the play 'A Christmas Carol" a few months back and I can probably give you some insight. In the play, Scrooge appears at many diffrent ages. So, first, you have to decide if one of the ages is going to be featured more promintenly. If so, than they will just been refered to as "JESSY". The other ages would be typed as "JESSY AT *insert age here*" or "JESSY(insert age here)" That's how they did it in our script. If none of the ages are your "main character" so to speak, then they would all be listed as "JESSY AT *insert age here*" or "JESSY(insert age here) I hope this helps and good luck with your script!

RE: Indicating different ages of characters in my screenplay

Thanks for that, The majority of the screenplay features my MC at eleven, but there's still 30 or so pages that feature her at age 13, so would I write 'JESSY AGE THIRTEEN' for those 30 pages, or would just stating her age change once be alright?

RE: Indicating different ages of characters in my screenplay

Well, if it's like thirty pages, than I would put "JESSY AGED THIRTEEN" the first time she speaks and then just put "JESSY(13)" afterwords, because writing "JESSY AGED THIRTEEN" lord knows how many times could get sorta unwieldy. Good luck with your script!
