First-time winners! (thoughts)

Well, I slept, like, 3 hours last night, but I finally did it. This is my first Screnzy, and I'm proud to announce it's my first win! I failed miserably in NaNo, that's why this is an even greater success for me, against procrastination. Thanks to everyone here for cooperating and writing more than many people do in a lifetime.

How does it feel to win for the first time?

RE: First-time winners! (thoughts)

Congratulations on winning!!!

I won too at the first attempt, just like Nano in 2007.

I don't consider it a true win though, because my screnzy isn't exactly a full story. It's over 100 pages but its go-nowhere-ness is obvious. And with Script Frenzy, I can easily reach 100 pages no problem. With Nano it took me 20 days without a break, but this was only 3 and a third pages which wasn't too much of a stretch, and there were several days where I didn't write at all.

I should have plotted it out though, but usually when I do that, I lose interest because I already know how its going to end, but I will endevour to come up with something and hopefully produce a beginning, a middle, and an end for the next one.

Matt.

RE: First-time winners! (thoughts)

I woke up at 5 o' clock this morning to finish my script and I ended up finishing, which was really great! I'm not done with my script but things are pretty much settled down, I only have 5-10 pages before it wraps up. After finishing, I literally just sat there for a few minutes before entering my page count and then I danced around my office like a bid dork. I'm so excited. Oh! And congrats to everyone else who won!

RE: First-time winners! (thoughts)

I just reached the 100 pages a half hour ago. I am INSANELY happy because I didn't know if I could do this. I hope to also do NaNoWriMo for the first time later this year too!
I still have about 10 to 15 pages left in me. I have to go back and patch over the holes that I left when I would get brainfreeze in the middle of a scene.
Congrats to the winners!

Aaahh!!! I've done NaNoWriMo for three years, I think, and never won. This was my first Script Frenzy, and I got over 100 pages! Which means I have to try harder in November. ^^;

Okay, so it was two pages over 100...but I'm still excited! Take that procrastination! :D

So...anyways. Congratulations, guys! :)

Yay for first time winning! I failed so miserably last year, and I wasnt even into it. It was a definite improvement writing it as a movie. And I actually had a plot! All month I was really worried, I didnt know if my plot would be long enough. But it is! And its a decent lengthed movie! Congratulations to everyone who won.

It feels great! I am basically in the exact same position as you. This is my first time trying and winning Script Frenzy, and it's especially nice because of my 1500 words for nano last year.

RE: First-time winners! (thoughts)

I am really proud of myself. This was tough to do at first, and I couldn't understand script vs novel. Then I got it and I learned so much about writing dialogue and action. I always wanted to write a script and now I have. Thanks Frenzy. This is awesome!

RE: First-time winners! (thoughts)

This is my second Script Frenzy, and the first time everything has gone so well in any WriMo. The script that emerged divided pretty much into 3 comics issues; the second two need some editing (and may become three before long), but the first is almost perfect -- or seems so until I start drawing layouts for the actual pages. Last year's screenplay self-destructed after two sequences, so I stopped at a little over 2,000 words (out of 20,000, the target back then).

I'm elated to not just have won this year, but actually done my best work yet!

Now to get back to those stubborn NaNoWriMo novels that still need heavy editing...

RE: First-time winners! (thoughts)

How does it feel? I'll tell ya how it feels, kiddo!

WOOT! **Punches air, leaps around like a salmon trying to spawn (and ewwww on the metaphor there...), does cartwheel, remembers half-way *through* said cartwheel that I live in a 17th century cottage with VERY low ceilings and damn great beams, rubs now throbbing foot, still grinning**

Ah, hell, you get the picture.

It was a month of firsts for me. My first full, completed script. My first Script Frenzy. My first real achievement in a long time due to difficult personal circumstances. April ROCKED.

I've printed my winners certificate up and it's now bang in front of me on the wall, where every time I sit down to write, I can see it. Wonderful motivation. I'm already one third way through my second script (which ain't for fun this time).

If Script Frenzy were a person, I would, (and completely out of character for me, I'll tell you) be hugging it right now.

A big thanks to SnowLeopard, AJ, Stacey and Samroz for their support throughout.

It's nice to be a winner, sometimes...

Kes

I warn you. I'm armed to the teeth with a deadly arsenal of crap one-liners.

RE: First-time winners! (thoughts)

Didn't really hit me 'til this morning. I feel great. The first draft isn't finished, but I accepted a challenge and succeeded, so that feels good. I've done more writing this April than in the previous whole year, and gotten the habit of writing every day. Just the beginning, I hope. I'll use May to finish the draft, June for a second draft. My goal for 2008 is to write something commercially viable.

Script Frenzy has been the best thing to happen to me as a would-be writer in years. I'm starting to believe I could have a career, and not just a hobby. Yep, that feels good.
