Move Script Frenzy back to June or at least May

Move Script Frenzy back to June or at least May.

First, Script Frenzy was too close to NaNoEdMo in March. So Script Frenzy may have lost NaNoEdMo people. I know of at least one NaNoEdMoer that did not do Script Frenzy.

Second, because of the change from June; Script Frenzy lost some writers. I think Script Frenzy last year had 8,000 writers. So we lost some writers and did not gain more writers this year.

Third, I like having a month to just look at the site and forums with no major month long contest. This year because of Script Frenzy's move to April and my taking part in NaNoEdMo, I lost that month of preparation, buying my magic writing food and tools, as well as making a founding donation because I was in the middle of another month long contest (NaNoEdMo) thinking about what I would donate to that contest and about how I would get 50 hours of Editing in with my Inner Editor on my back.
Having the contest back in May or June, would allow donors to have their treasures refilled. And for people that are going to pay taxes (paying more money) on April 15 (an April contest is not a good idea). Wait until May or June when they get those refunds in. And soak up so much sunlight or fireplace light in the Southern hemisphere they are willing to give donations to just about any cause short of book burning and closing the theaters.

Please, move Script Frenzy back to June or at least to May.

Thank you.

RE: Move Script Frenzy back to June or at least May

I think a large portion of the move to April was to accomodate the fact that schools get out in June so classes couldn't participate. I suppose May might work, too, but I'm not sure of any other reasons for the move.

I lost SF this year because I didn't have time due to lots of things that sound a lot like excuses. May might have worked better for me this year, but then again June didn't work for me last year either (too many things going on once again).

You make some compelling arguments, though, and I can't disagree with your idea to move it to May. June, though, has some negatives for the YWP, among other things. Plus, May gives us an extra day! I'm all for that.

RE: Move Script Frenzy back to June or at least May

It is a 30 day contest. 30 days has September, April, June and November. If you wanted to move obviously November wouldn't work, Its already in April, June is when schools get out and September is too close to NaNo to balance out the year. I personally think that they did a good job, putting it in April.
