Hmmm, maybe other people feel like the conversation is too short. I mean these characters are running for their lives right? Put yourself in their shoes. How would you have reacted? What would you have said? Would you have taken the answers given to you in such a nonchalant way? Do you really trust the person that much?
What we say and the words we use in a conversation/dialogue can help the audience picture the feeling and emotions of the character. It helps us believe in the character thus believe in their story. Dialogue gives the character depth and a human quality. Expression is they key...argue, cry & whine, love, hate.
I don't know if this is the kind of help you needed or if it helps at all; but hopefully you won't have to start over and just need a few good tweaks.
Good luck.
