Hey there!
I wanted to let you know about a play from Shotgun Players called The Farm. If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, find time to check it out!
Jon Tracy spins out an adaptation of George Orwell's Animal Farm, and I was amazed at the interpretation.
Blake Snyder 1957-2009
Script Frenzy is sad to report that on Tuesday, August 4, Blake Snyder passed away.
Snyder, candid author of Save the Cat!, Save the Cat! Goes to the Movies, and not-yet-available Save the Cat Strikes Back, shared his formula for successful screenplays through his books, workshops, and blog. He offered new and seasoned scribes succinct advice that helped guide the creative process of storytelling.
Blake generously donated his time to Script Frenzy scribes during 2008 when he penned the Cameo Midpoint—The Key to Cracking Any Story.
His fresh approach to craft was exceedingly helpful to me as I developed my first
Seven years ago, the Office of Letters and Light Executive Director and NaNoWriMo founder Chris Baty created another high-velocity challenge: the 3-minute Film Festival.
Participants have the month of July to make a film that runs three minutes or less. The film must be submitted by July 31, and it's then screened at a black-tie gala on August 8!
Chris passed the reigns to Camille Verboort six years ago, and the contest lives on. Don't wait another second! July 1 is the day to start your three-minute adventure!

Script Frenzy
I know, it's sad. The insane Script Frenzy merchandise sale is over.
But don't worry. Chris Baty, our Executive Director, just got back from his three-month trip to Australia with a sack full of Australian sweet treats.
What does this have to do with the store you might ask? How can Chris' big bag of candies alleviate the pain you currently may feel from missing the $10-travel-mug extravaganza?
In the next week, we'll choose one order at random to receive some marsupial-themed chocolates from Down Under.
Have fun playing the chocolate lottery,
Tavia

Dear Script Frenzy Writer,
Script Frenzy needs your help.
Both Script Frenzy and Script Frenzy's Young Writers Program are funded the grassroots way: participant donations.
We just got the Bay Area Wrap Party photos in from photographer Veronica Weber.
It was so fun to relive the night. If you missed it, you might ask, "What kind of party would inspire a man to wear that?"
The answer is simple: Killing My Lobster.
We invited Script Frenzy participants and local writers to submit 2-page script excerpts to be performed (with no rehearsal, no prep, and only a suitcase of props) by Jon Wolanske, Paco Romane, and Andy Alabran, three amazingly talented members of Killing My Lobster.
The performance was painfully funny. There was laughing, crying through the laughter, and a near wine-out-the-nose tragedy. I really couldn't have asked for a better wrap party!
Dear Script Frenzy participant,
I can't believe it is over already! I miss April! Do you miss it, too?
It is always hard to explain to folks who didn't participate how something that adds work and stress to your life can be missed so deeply when it is gone. It was such a great Script Frenzy. Thank you for being part of it!
And a big thank you to everyone who donated! You rock our world. I am hugging you through the computer. HUUUUUUUG!
If you haven't donated yet, please do. Script Frenzy is funded almost exclusively by participant donations and this year we are coming up terrifyingly short of being able to cover our expenses. Even if you can only swing $10—the cost of a movie ticket—it would make a huge difference. Please make a tax-deductible, good-karma donation now.
Congratulations to all 1269 winners! We couldn't be prouder of you if we tried!
We stand in awe as we gaze the list of those who triumphed this year.
Stop by the winners page and bask in its glory!
Yay!
Jen
