An Excerpt from What Maiden is This?

Scene: SIMEON and the MAIDEN stand in wheat field. FIELD HANDS sit under trees in the distants appearing to be eating lunch. SIMEON looks hard at the MAIDEN'S face, arms crossed and uncomprimising.

SIMEON: Who are you? You have proved that child you brought is truly my nephew, but who are you to care?

ClOSE The Maiden: I have no name, for I deserve one not. Ask not my name for the one once possesed is lost beyond recall, and the once I recently owned stained by regret and death. Ask not who I am, for I can only answer that I am myself. My history is my own, as are my reason for caring, and not for you to know. Know only that I do care, and I only wish to forget all that has passed in my past save for two things.

Camera returns to scene.

SIMEON: Tell me those two things then and I'll be satisfied.

MAIDEN: The Child, and another thing which is between me and the Lord only.
