scene 7: STEPH'S Lounge

The screen zooms out of the TV in this room. Dim lights scatter the room and the scene opens in a lounge with two sofas in it and a leather chair. A large TV is against a wall. A long green rug takes up the center of the room. In the very center of the rug is STEPH and fanning out from her in circles are a number or text books open with intricate diagrams, a picture of BEN, pages of writing, old medical cases and a big banner with the SERENITY SYMBOL. In total, there are four circles and the fourth one has three A4 sized gaps. The TV is on, and the news is showing. STEPH is writing on the same notebook as she was in the first scene with ELIZA.

STEPH sighs and rips out the page of her book, stands up, moves over to one of the free spaces, and places it in one of the gaps in the furthest out circle. Then she leaves the room to go and get something. The shot stays in the lounge.

Recently in the local area near crimson street several alien hoaxes have been taking place in the form of three apparently blue skinned people who call themselves Xyclin. There is however, no proof and so has been disclosed as a hoax.

STEPH re-enters the room with two sheets of paper with pictures on them. One is a large picture of DAN. The other is a picture of ELIZA. She places them in the remaining spaces, and delicately moves back into the center.

Ben Sager, the teenage criminal, is still evading the police. Our advanced CCTV, when it's glitches are fixed, will be used to find Ben and the people behind these alien hoaxes. There is no link between them but the police intend to be using their available technology to it's full potential.

Steph looks at the TV briefly and then turns around looking at all the information she has a massed. She is astounded herself, and then picks up the inner circle and starts re-arranging things. She brushes her fringe out of her eyes.

STEPH

During this she goes around picking up pieces of paper in seemingly no order.

It's all got to be connected somehow. A link. Even if the police can't find one between random events, I can surely find one between this glitch in CCTV that is a man, and Eliza. I have to help her. But where to start? What is the first part of the puzzle?

She pauses and the SERENITY SYMBOL is right behind her. She turns around and a smile appears on her lips. She crouches down.

Here. This will do. For one, I know that in some ancient language that this was the symbol for a glitch. It's just obvious, I mean the red and blue should be there but the green doesn't look right.

She pauses and fringe falls back into her eyes. She brushes it out and starts talking again.

But where do I go from a glitch? Of course! That man. He was in the footage on the news last night so it must be him. No one knows who he is. No one does. He's got to be it.

She places the picture of DAN next to the SERENITY SYMBOL, on the right.

And Ben Sager was with him in the footage! So that's the next piece of the puzzle...

She rifles through her stack of paper and finds the picture of BEN. She places it on the right of the one of DAN.

So they appeared on the CCTV...

She rifles again and pulls out a diagram of how the CCTV system works and places it on the right of BEN.
