Carillon Quartet: The script of the GN of the novel "If Wishes Were Horses" By Arlene C. Harris THIS MATERIAL © 2008 ARLENE C. HARRIS. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. NO PART OF THIS MAY BE COPIED OR REPRINTED ANYWHERE IN ANY FORM WITHOUT PRIOR PERMISSION OF THE ARTIST. PAGE TWENTY-SIX Panel 1: ALLEYNDAR holds a pitcher in his hand. BERECH has a tankard in her hands and gulps it down. ALLIE: You’re doing FINE. You can last ONE MORE round. Panel 2: BERECH wiping her mouth with the back of her sleeve. BERECH: Third or fourth, what’s the DIFFERENCE? WITHDRAWAL is still LOSING, no matter WHAT ROUND it is. ALLIE (OS): Not NECESSARILY… Panel 3: ALLIE with his hip cocked; the pitcher in his hand. He does look like a girl! ALLIE: Because this is where it gets SERIOUS. ALLIE 2: Most of the FAVORITES are already weeded out. ALLIE 3: If you can last the NEXT round, you’ll win SOMETHING, at least. ALLIE 4: Last TWO more rounds and you’ll win MONEY. Panel 4: ALLIE bending over, refilling her tankard; BERECH is scowling in thought. ALLIE: And if you last THREE more rounds… ALLIE 2: …then your SCORE, between this and the ARCHERY, keeps you in the RUNNING for CHAMPION. BERECH: *snort * Panel 5: BERECH cocks her head and looks very skeptical. BERECH: I don’t need to be CHAMPION, if there’s no HORSE to be won… BERECH 2: …but I can last two more. ALLIE (OS): I know you ca-- ALLIE 2 (OS): *gasp! * NO!! Panel 6: Reverse shot of BERECH frowning. ALLIE has turned aside. BERECH: What is it? ALLIE: What’s HE doing HERE?!? PAGE TWENTY-SEVEN Panel 1: BERECH looks toward the Pavillion behind them; ALLIE is turned away, facing the viewer, shaking a little. On the dias, behind LAPETH, the shadow that was standing there is being given a stool to sit upon, and he sits beside LAPETH. They seem to be in serious discussion. ALLIE: NO, DON’T LOOK! Cap 1 (ital): I didn’t see him BEFORE. Didn’t know who he was… Cap 2 (ital): …but even at that distance, I saw WHAT he was. BERECH: And WHO am I not supposed to be LOOKING AT? Panel 2: ZOOM in to the man speaking with LAPETH. He looks stern and serious. His horns are obscured by a headband. He wears BANCOURANT’s colors, the blue and silver, unlike LAPETH’s men who all wear green and gold. Cap 1 (ital): I knew right off he was one of the WINTER WARRIORS. ALLIE (OS): It’s my father’s MASTER AT ARMS, bound to the service of BANCOURANT. Cap 2 (ital): But what was he doing so FAR from his PEOPLE? They NEVER come out of the mountains much anymore… BERECH (OS): Does he have a NAME? Panel 3: ZOOM in further to EMILOCH’s face, close enough that you can see the bisected goat eyes. He’s still talking to LAPETH. ALLIE: A name, yes, and a REPUTATION to go with it… PAGE TWENTY-EIGHT Panel 1: same distance, only now EMILOCH has turned to face the viewer, and presumably BERECH. The scar across the bridge of his nose is prominent. His gaze is creepy and frightening, but he’s looking out as if trying to remember something, as if he almost recognizes the viewer. ALLIE: He’s SIR EMILOCH XOAR LLOIA. Cap 1 (ital): EMILOCH… XOAR LLOIA… ALLIE (OS): Have you HEARD of him? BERECH (OS): I MIGHT have heard sommat, AYE… Cap 2 (ital): …the LEGENDARY SWORDSMAN who left his people when he LOST an important DUEL with the man who gave him that SCAR… Panel 2: narrow picture of just his eyes. Ooo, scary! ALLIE (OS): I’m going back to the TAVERN. I can’t have him RECOGNIZE me here! Panel 3: Reaction shot of BERECH. You can almost see the wheels turning in her brain. Cap 1 (ital): …the equally renown GENERAL JHERED AP ARDHEMIN… Cap 2 (ital): …me DA… Cap 3: TO BE CONTINUED… |
