An Excerpt from The Estranged Neighbours
Rick Can we concentrate on getting to safety first? Lara Well just do something. I can't stand just sitting here, wasting petrol. Lara's side mirror is broken off. Lara screams at the sight of the very decomposed face staring at her through the side window. It hugs the glass trying to bite her as though it was closer and unimpeded by the window, constantly trying to near Lara and bite into her flesh. Rick is stunned too, snapping out of it he puts the Ute into reverse and stomps down on the accelerator. Lara Take it easy. You nearly gave me whiplash. Zombies thump under the Ute's wheels and undercarriage. The Ute slows down noticeably as the sounds of impacting Zombies becomes less severe. The Ute hits into an obstacle, raising the rear of the Ute up and onto a pile of bodies and stops completely. They're stuck. Lara Put it in drive. Put it in drive! Rick puts it in drive and presses the accelerator down. The engine revs and the sound of squealing tyres sounds out. The Ute urges forward before rolling back into the same spot. Rick We're bogged. Lara Fu*# me! There's a mountain of corpses under us. |
