INT. STEPHANIE'S HOUSE T.V. ROOM - DAY
STEPHANIE, (8 years old), is sitting in front of the TV in her leotard watching a dance competition. She is moving with the music. Almost at the end, the main dancer is lifted in the air, but one of her supporters steps on something and it makes him lose his balance. Stephanie watches as the dancer falls and lands on her tailbone, then lies still on the mat.
STEPHANIE
Mom!
INT. LISSA'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY
DAVID (early 30s, protective of Lissa) and LISSA (late, 20s, listless, going through the motions) walk into the living room with their realtor, ANGIE.
ANGIE
Well, I think that's it.
I'll leave you along so
you can discuss it.
David looks at Lissa and waits for her to respond, but she is just looking round the room.
DAVID
Thank you.
He watches as Angie leaves the room. Then he turns to Lissa.
DAVID
What do you think?
LISSA
It's a nice house.
DAVID
Would you like it?
LISSA
You know what I want.
DAVID
Honey, maybe if we move
the nightmares will stop.
I thought we decided that
was the best thing to do.
LISSA
You decided. But yes, the
house is nice.
Lissa looks like she's about to crumple. David goes over and holds her. Angie comes back in the room.
ANGIE
So, have we made a
decision?
DAVID
We'll take it.
INT. LISSA'S HOUSE - MASTERBEDROOM - NIGHT
David and Lissa are in bed. David is sleeping quietly. Lissa is tossing and turning in the bed. She is having a nightmare.
THE CAMERA IS ABOVE LOOKING DOWN ON THE BED
The bed changes into a hospital bed. Lissa is lying in it and David is standing next to her. David is sad, Lissa is frantic as she asks a question. And goes into hysterics when the doctor shakes his head "no". She starts fighting David who is trying to calm her down.
AS SHE IS FIGHTING THE CAMERA ZOOMS IN ON HER FACE
She sits straight up in bed.
