EXT. RINGWOOD HIGH - LUNCH TIME
The Ringwood High grounds are filled with students standing and sitting in various sized groups, all eating lunch and hanging out.
We see BECKY, ALLY and JACQUI sitting under a large tree. Jacqui and Becky are lying down on the grass on their stomachs, leaning on their elbows and Ally is leaning against the trunk of the tree with a book in hand. Jacqui is paying attention to a group of boys playing soccer a few metres away and Becky has spotted them too. Ally watches them in amusement.
ALLY
Becky. Becky. Becks!
(when Becky looks at her)
You have a boyfriend. You're not allowed to eye off other boys.
JACQUI:
Oh boo hoo. It's not like she's making out with them or anything. She's in love with Chris. Duh.
ALLY:
Oh boy. I can't wait for you to get a boyfriend.
JACQUI:
Pfft. No boy can handle me full time. I'm too gorgeous for them.
Jacqui props herself up a bit higher and waves to a few of the soccer boys.
JACQUI:
Plus commitment is so boring. Why waste your time on one boy when you can flirt with all of them?
Ally rolls her eyes.
BECKY:
I don't know. It's nice to just have one person to really cares about you and can look after you.
ALLY:
Oh god Becky. You don't need a guy to look after you. Boys can hardly look after themselves, much less a teenage girl.
We see several guys all tackling another guy with the ball. Boys having a food fight elsewhere. Their uniforms are all untidy etc. This all proves Ally's point.
ALLY:
See? I so don't need that in my life.
Now we see the three girl's different perceptions of boys. Jacqui is giving a flirtatious smile to the soccer boys again, already dismissing Ally's argument.
Ally leans back against the tree shaking her head. She gives the boys a disdainful look and begins reading. She's not interested in boys. They annoy her.
Becky is watching the soccer boys halfheartedly but her eyes keep flickering around for Chris. In the distance we see him with a bunch of guys laughing. Becky keeps her eye on him but he doesn't sense it.
