A campfire is burning in the center of the clearing with two girls sitting at opposite sides. REILLY MADDOCK(18) is sipping from a glass bottle of an unidentified liquid, smiling. DAWN TAYLOR(17) is laughing, poking the fire with a stick, holding her own bottle in her other hand.

DAWN (V.O.)

That's just soda we're drinking. And if we're high, its only because we've downed three each already.

To REILLY's left lies a half-grown Siberian Husky. He lifts his head as the two laugh and REILLY scratches him behind his ears.

DAWN (V.O.)

This may be the last night we ever see each other. We don't know. We never do.

REILLY throws a tennis ball to DAWN. DAWN fumbles as she drops the stick then catches the ball in her lap. The dog watches as DAWN throws it back. He tries to snatch it from the air, but REILLY catches it. She grins.

DAWN (V.O.)

The future doesn't scare us. Not today. Everyone has nine lives to live, we plan on making the most of ours.
