Unofficial Dramatic Chec In Station 2008

Hey everyone, just thought I'd make an unofficial check in thread for the dramatic genre, just in case the mods didn't. Here's a place to post about your upcoming script! Well, th only details I'm disclosing about mine is that it is a stage play that tkaes place in New York and follows an investigator with insomnia through a dadly cat and mouse game.

I'm thinking about writing a script that focuses on a girl dying of lukemia. Or a guy who is depressed. Either one, or both, together.

RE: Unofficial Dramatic Chec In Station 2008

Mine's about a man whose husband wants a divorce, so he goes to England to stay with his female best friend. They talk about love and getting old, and whether the two things can co-exist.

Et in Arcadia Ego.

I've got a dying lesbian in a Dom/sub relationship...

Actually that sounds more a punchline than a drama. *grin* But I swear, the angst is rife!

RE: Unofficial Dramatic Chec In Station 2008

I honestly couldn't see myself writing anything other than drama right now.

The main idea I'm kicking around is about a teacher and his illicit affair with one of his students. The MMC is so angst and guilt-ridden, a nice counterpoint to the FMC's innocence and naiveté. I think he's going to end up dead by the end of the movie, too.

All of your ideas sound great, guys!

RE: Unofficial Dramatic Chec In Station 2008

Thus far, I'm working on a script about a girl who is cloned (in a futuristic world where they've decided it's ethical to use comatose clones for organ harvesting) and then commits suicide. Her parents decide to revive the clone and the story's about that girl's attempt to find her identity and society's acceptance of that. Or maybe not. I like tragic endings because they seem more real to me, so maybe she'll never be accepted and she'll kill herself, too. It'd be fitting.

ANYWAY, here I am. I've attempted to write scripts before but never gotten past the first ten pages. I hope I do this time...

Mine is good and tragic. Death in the end for the main character. (tear) It's et in 18-19th century France. I know possible career suicide by writing a period piece, but call me crazy. I'm so into this script I could cry! (tear)

A former bf/stalker is released from a psychiatric hospital to find his gf in a new relationship, in a new apartment, and a new phone number.

It's inspired by a scene I wrote for a playwriting class in college.

Mine is about a girl is a witness to her best friend's murder, but can't remember it. So mine's got drama, murder/mystery and bucket loads of angst.

RE: Unofficial Dramatic Chec In Station 2008

TaeliaRose, great minds must think alike! haha

I'm actually trying to do a modern retelling of Samson and Delilah based around a middle aged man in an unhappy and controlling marriage that seeks love elsewhere and finds it in the arms of a fifteen year old. I'm struggling with just how I want the man to come into this affair though. I had him as a teacher, but I'm thinking of changing that. I also wanted to kill him off at the end. Thank goodness for outlines. I have too many ideas right now. Once I write them all down and sort them I should know exactly where I'm going, or should have a pretty clear idea at least. :)
