Looking for a partner?

This would probably be a good place to have a thread of people looking for a partner. So, anyone else fancy writing with a complete stranger?

I have this mad idea for a film entirely set in a phonebox, but since I doubt that will make 100 pages by itself (or that anyone else will be mad enough to attempt it with me!) I think I'll need another project to go alonside that one.

Maybe we should have a kind of stock this-is-me form to try to match people together? No idea what should be on it, but hot about:

Age: 36
Favourite films: see profile
Genre - open to most things, although I'd prefer something contemporary and character-based.
Experience - Nano x 4, Script Frenzy last year, nothing else.

I suppose another approach would be to post up ideas for plotlines, so people can pick out a story they'd like to work on.

Another thought (probably too late). If the rules now allow multiple scripts making up 100 pages, it would be nice to be able to collaborate with different people on different scripts ... One for next year, perhaps. (When I won't be around because the site admin bloke will have murdered me in my sleep ;) sorry!)

RE: Looking for a partner?

Interesting idea to collaborate with different people on multiple scripts but you can't have more than one partner with the same scriptfrenzy name. Last year, I partnered with my son but also wrote my own script. I had to register a different name for my script with my son than the name I had been using forever in nano. So, for example, you couldn't write 30 pages with "ogreface" and then 25 pages with "loopy lou" and then another 40 pages with "whocares." Does that make sense?

I think a play or a movie entirely in a phonebooth (or mostly in one) is a great idea. If you end up writing it, please let me read it!

RE: Looking for a partner?

Well it is very possible to write a story based in a phonebox/phone booth. There's a pretty well known movie called Phone Booth with Colin Pharell (i apologize if i spelled his last name wrong lol) that was all based on one phone call in a phone booth. It was pretty good in my opinion but then again I love Coling Pharell to pieces so anything he's in I love lol. If you think you can write it then go and write it. I BELIEVE! lol good luck everyone with this year's screnzy

Sincerely Mindy

RE: Looking for a partner?

Well, I'm definitely going to try it, but I'm not going to rely on it - I need another project that I can be confident of hitting 100 pages with.

Presumably although the site won't cope with it, there's nothing to stop someone co-writing several scripts with different people, splitting the word count on each, and then each coming up with a personal total? Don't know if that actually violates the rules, as if you write four 50-age scripts each with another person, you have written 100 pages of script.

And no, I'm not actually a lawyer ...

I think therefore I am pretentious.

RE: Looking for a partner?

Tom,
You would have to use a different name for each collaboration. I tried to do what you're talking about last year and that's what I was told. I do like the idea of collaborating with several people though, especially if each piece of work is extremely different.

Connie

P.S. If you would change it to a stageplay, I'll collaborate with you. I think your idea has lots of merit but would most likely be better received as a play. The movie mentioned above was centered around a man in a phonebooth but there was lots of action outside of it too.

RE: Looking for a partner?

Working with a complete stranger on this project sounds just crazy enough to work.

I live in Las Vegas. I've written short stories, a nanowrimo novel, and a bunch of poetry. I have some blogs writer-blogs.blogspot.com is my main blog and I like mysteries, romances, comedies, comedy-horror, historical fiction. I like a lot.

I can write dialogue, it's fun. I"ve never written a screen play. It sounds like fun.

I have a plot for a humorous mystery.

RE: Looking for a partner?

Sounds cool- This will be my first time doing this... and I don't have much experience in writing dialog. So I really don't want to work with someone intense. I'm a teenager.

I'm open to any ideas, I have a couple of ideas too...

RE: Looking for a partner?

Hi,

I have never written a script and my ultimate goal is to partcipate in NaNoWriMo, but I am so excited I can't wait. I am looking for a low-key experience, and just want to attempt a script for the sake of doing it. I'm game for anything genre- and plot-wise. If this sounds good to you, let's collaborate!

RE: Looking for a partner?

I've never written anything even resembling a script/screenplay/adaptation/graphic novel or the works. I'm definitely going to need some hand holding here, as I don't even really have a "story" idea.

I was thinking of using this to "adapt" and edit my NaNo 2006 which was woefully lacking in dialog and character development, or I was thinking of doing an adaptation of Louis L'Amour's Sea Classic "Fair Blows The Wind". My ultimate goal however is to develop my writing skills enough so that I work with a New York City Acting Troupe and develop a series of Graphic Novels based on the characters they perform around the country at Pirate Themed events.

now for the basics:

Mid 40's
Western New York (Buffalo Area)
NaNo Twice (both wins)
Seriously Writing Since NaNo 2006.
