SparkPeople Writers

I know there are at least two of us here. Thought it would be great to have somewhere to encourage one another and vent - should the need arise - and also to offer info on healthy snacks and keeping sane while writing the next great script!

Go SparkPeople!

RE: SparkPeople Writers

SparkPeople is one of the fastest-growing health websites in the world, with a mission to spark millions of people to reach their goals and make the world a healthier place. There are diet, nutrition, fitness, and other tools and a worldwide community to support and guide those who'd like to lose weight or simply live a healthier lifestyle. AND IT'S ALL FREE. There's a whole group of us who do NaNoWriMo every year and this year at least two of us are participating in ScriptFrenzy!

I've lost over 60 lbs with SparkPeople and I love it. Check it out at www.sparkpeople.com - tell 'em kalindria sent you!

RE: SparkPeople Writers

Thanks, Cindy. I know for me having a group of people who are not only trying to write 100 pages but eat wisely, exercise and consume smart snacks helps me. I can't be the only one. My first NaNoWriMo I really overindulged in caffeinated beverages. It was odd. Very odd. I don't do that anymore.

RE: SparkPeople Writers

I am part of SparkPeople. I officially joined Febuaray 9th-but only kept up with it until March 8th, about a month. But I was actually really getting ready to get back on track with it all starting April 1st.

Glad to see a SP thread, that's awesome. Not very many people know about SP or anything, :) This is my first year doing Screnzy so I am really looking forward to it, and I need someway to get through it all in a healthy way, and being able to keep up wiht a healthy lifestyle. I usually snack on Hot cocca, popcorn, and other quick and unheathly/statisfying treats. So I hope this thread will help me pull through it, :)

Nice to meet you all, and looking forward to it!

RE: SparkPeople Writers

There are more than 2 million people who've signed up for SparkPeople so far. OK, not all of them stick around and lose weight, but there are a lot of them. I love SP - lost 60 lbs. since joining and I swear by them. I couldn't have done it without SP.

As far as snacks while I write, I eat a lot of fresh fruits and veggies, cut into bite-sized pieces so it's easy to eat. I do eat popcorn but it's the 100 calorie kind. And there's always a water bottle by my side.

RE: SparkPeople Writers

I'm in! Thanks, Diann, for starting this thread.

SP has gads of measuring tools and even more files of useful information on nutrition, exercise, etc. I'm relatively new there, but I like how they focus on achievable goals and on realistic motivation. Yesterday I input some writing goals for myself to track on their site. That's very useful to me, because when it's not SF or Nano month, I don't have another "counter" online to help me keep track. Having that will help me stay motivated for my other writing assignments.

I suppose having money coming in from them would be motivating, too, but I'll just have to jump off that bridge when I reach it. ;)

Thanks,

Joe

RE: SparkPeople Writers

Hi Joe, and welcome. I know I spend a lot of time on the SparkPeople site and it has really helped me lose weight and then maintain that loss. Plus I've met some terrific people there.

So what's everybody going to be writing next month?

My screenplay is based on the true story of a young Modoc tribeswoman from the 1860s. Her actions saved the lives of many of her own people and the white soldiers and helped bring the Modoc War to a quick ending. Although it's a true story, there's not a lot of historical stuff out there and very few people even know her story. I hope to change that.

RE: SparkPeople Writers

Don't get me wrong, I love SP, it's been very helpful for me. I was only at it for a month though...I'm sure you didn't loose all 60 of your pounds in a month, and if you did that's really great. I guess I just can't acheieve that. But I'm sure in a couple more months I will loose the weight that I do need to loose. It was only a month though, I think I should give myself more of a chance then just labeling myself as not succeeding with SP.

As for me, snacks love and will stick with for Screnzy will most likely be... carrots, apples, chips and dip, mushrooms and other things like that. I know what you mean about the water...water is always next to me as well.
