RE: Browncoats

*raises hand* Browncoat here. Only discovered the series when the movie came out. I rented the whole series, watched the movie and then went out and bought the show on DVD (and of course bought the movie the day is came out on DVD). Such a fantastic show!

RE: Browncoats

Has anyone read the near-published fanwork called 'My Own Kind of Freedom'? It's a fanfic, basically, but it's almost published and actually quite good ^^

I miss the show so much. I wish we were getting more, but now Whendon is working on a musical... the awesome part is that Nathan Fillion is going to be part of it ^^

RE: Browncoats

Why is everything here in Spanish today?

Anyway, big time Browncoat. In fact, I was just at a shindig on Saturday where a big group of us got together and played paintball. It was a blast!

I discovered the 'Verse after a co-worker practically forced a Serenity movie ticket into my hand and ordered me to go see it. I enjoyed the film, but I knew there were some big key pieces that were missing. I kept meaning to watch the show, but never could quite get around to it. One day last summer, I saw it at Target for 20 bucks, bought it, watched the entire thing during my downtime at work and have been absolutely hooked ever since. I started watching Chuck just for Adam Baldwin. I met up with the SoCal Browncoats and now can say that I am completely and totally a loyal Browncoat.

RE: Browncoats

This series had me at Created by Joss Whedon.

Bought the box set, forced it on an inordinate amout of friends and went to see Serenity on the day it was released. A nd then again a few weeks later.

IIRC, My Own Kind Of Freedom (which I do have and have read some of) started out as a pitch for an offical Firefly novel which the guy wrote instead of just pitching.

"Haec credam a deo pio? A deo iusto, a deo scito? Cruciatus in crucem. Tuus in terra servus, nuntius fui. Officium perfeci. Cruciatus in crucem. Eas in crucem!"

If what I have to say is irresponsible, then I alone am responsible for the saying of it

RE: Browncoats

Me me me!! In fact I'm wearing my Firefly hoodie right now.

Fun story: I have the wonderful memory of watching Firefly at the dentist. It happened to be playing on sci-fi channel the day I got 3 teeth extracted. One of my favorite episodes too, Jaynestown. I was just annoyed that I kept dozing off and missing bits.

RE: Browncoats

I got hooked on Firefly just after the movie came out but my parents didn't like the movie much and so I never did get the DVD set of the shows. I spent a lot of time trying to find the episodes online but couldn't do it at the time. Then my dad went hunting and watched Scerinity (again) and fell in love with it. He bough the DVDs and my mom got hooked on the show too. We ended up watching the whole thing within a week. My little brother likes it too but he's not allowed to watch some parts and gets bumbed about that.

My whole family gets in "whose the best character" fights. Normally everyone but me says Jayne is the best and I'm stuck defending Wash alone. I really like both of them equally though.

RE: Browncoats

"Firefly" has some of the best dialog I've ever heard.
I became a fan last Christmas when the Sci Fi channel had a late night marathon. Stayed up until 3 a.m.

It's biggest downfall was that it was on Fox. I think if it had been on Sci Fi or HBO or some other cable network the show would still be on the air.

Hey and for those interested you can read the "Out of Gas" script on Tim Minear's website: http://www.timminear.net/archives/firefly/000149.html

Classic.

RE: Browncoats

Another Browncoat fan here. I've been a fan for about two years now. God...I miss that show so much. The dialog is genius, the acting is great, and the settings and costumes make me seriously happy. Plus, the characters are amazingly in depth.

Oooh, "Out of Gas" is my probably my favorite episode, but they're all so good.

RE: Browncoats

Browncoat, reporting for duty! :D

I got hooked on it earlier this year; my parents ordered the DVD set on a friend's recomendation, and they were hooked from practically the first episode. My dad bought Serenity about a week later, and now that's on about once a week, if not more often.

It really is quite brilliant, especially the dialogue. Simon has SUCH a nack for sticking his foot in his mouth, poor guy. One of my favourite lines has got to be when Jayne says, "I was aimin' for his head." The look Mal gives him is just awesome. Hehe.

Whedon's writing a musical? Interesting. And yay the return of Mal! Excuse me, Nathan Fillion. :D
