Anyone from FAWM here? |
Figured I'd set up a lounge for any FAWMers on here.
So, who else is here?

RE: Anyone from FAWM here? |
I noticed hardly anybody's biting.
I signed up for FAWM. It was one of the Big, Fun, Scary Challenges I'd made for myself. I didn't sign up under my own name, however. Even worse, I procrastinated to the point where I didn't write even a single song. I was going to teach myself how to play the guitar, but I never got around to plucking even a single string. Next year, I'm going to write my album and win FAWM. Then, while I'm editing my 2008 NaNoWriMo novel Points of Authority (named, not coincidentally, after a Linkin Park song; I'm a frustrated would-be rocker), I'll record my album for The RPM Challenge. So I'll have to work on my guitar and keyboard skills (and improve my music reading while I'm at it) to prepare. I have the guitars; I now need to get a keyboard.
Any real FAWMers out there?

I tried FAWM this year, but I didn't get very far. It was tons of fun though and I think I'll be able to really do it next year.

RE: Anyone from FAWM here? |
I'm Mal, from FAWM. Don't anyone feel bad about lack of showing. I attempted 50 Songs in 90 Days last year and ended up with twenty-five incomplete songs, and nothing finished, and felt very low about it. Did my first FAWM this year, and got all of five out of the target fourteen, but felt good about accomplishing something, and was please with the results I did get. Plus, I met all sorts of cool and talented people. That you continue to challenge yourself is progress, in mine opinion. I didn't think it at first, but I see it now. The only way you can keep from failing is to stop trying.
By the way, if you want to attempt three FAWMs in a row this Summer, 50/90 starts 4 July on Yahoo. I'm also planning to do National Solo Album Writing Month this November, so something to keep in mind for those who don't do NaNoWriMo.

RE: Anyone from FAWM here? |
I actually just found out about FAWM this year...the last week of February. I did sign up, but didn't end up doing anything. I hope to be able to participate next year though...and hopefully win. Writing an album is one of the things I really want to do...so hopefully I can get there.

RE: Anyone from FAWM here? |
Thanks, Mal! I just joined the 50/90 Yahoo group. Now I can make up for the fact that I procrastinated FAWM. And now I have an excuse to stop procrastinating and learn sight reading and the guitar. I tried that in February, but ended up not learning a thing, so I gave up and went back to doing FebNoWriMo on my '07 NaNo novel Bad Company. Though that has a Blackwater-like company as the villain, its main character is a self-destructive pop singer, and I still intend to write several songs for her to sing and put them in the novel. And some more songs in Spanner as well. I'm a frustrated rocker...

Aces, Dennis! I'm looking forward to seeing you there this Summer. I wish you all good luck on the guitar. I never did learn to play the thing; after a decade plus, I finally gave it to someone who could actually use it. And now I find myself thinking about getting another one. Yeah, I'm with you on the frustrated rocker thing. Would love to be able to strap on a guitar and just pound out the noise.

RE: Anyone from FAWM here? |
Thanks for the reminder about 50/90. I just joined as well. Luckily, that's right between stuff, so the only thing I might have to do is move.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I tried to be perfect, it just wasn't worth it.
I don't know how it got so bad.
It's hard to believe me, it never gets easy.
I guess I knew it all along.

RE: Anyone from FAWM here? |
Hey - very cool - there are at least 9 or 10 FAWMers here - there's a post of the FAWM forum about SF too. I just got back from a 3 day trip and have yet to write one page.... although I have my first scenes outlined. Got to get to work! My first attempt at screenwriting.... yikes :)
Good luck, to all!
