DEATH THREAD!!!!!

Did you kill one or more of your characters? Why?

What character did you wish didn't die? Why?

What character were you happy was dead? Why?

Did you feel less stress once the death occurred?

Did or will you hold a funeral for that character or will the character magically appear in another script (similar to Stephen King's characters -- Randall Flag often shows up in various writings)?

RE: DEATH THREAD!!!!!

(Did you kill one or more of your characters? Why?)

All of them. They all die in my plans. And I *am* talking about individual protagonist/antagonist/side-character deaths. I also blew up a city and a military base, thus slaughtering everyone in both locations instantly. Why? I don't believe in Plot Armour.

(What character did you wish didn't die? Why?)

None of them. One of them refused to die, however, and came back to life after taking a fireball to the face. His return to life eventually paved the way for ideas about a sequel, which I am still entertaining today.

(What character were you happy was dead? Why?)

All of them. One of the "themes" of my story is futility, and one part of that is the eventual futility of all human endeavour.

(Did you feel less stress once the death occurred?)

I haven't written the deaths yet, but they're all planned. I can't answer the question, since I planned out their deaths ages ago.

Two so far.... well, okay, actually, a whole shipful, plus two.

What character did you wish didn't die? Why?
Barnaby. But he had to.

What character were you happy was dead? Why?
Serafina. But don't worry, she's got hers coming by act three.

Did you feel less stress once the death occurred?
Nah. All planned out.

Not yet.

RE: DEATH THREAD!!!!!

I have many killings in my script. It basicly has various faerie killings throughout the world: "Siren Sisters Strike Again" (fisherman dies); "Yallery At It Again: Two Dead" (American & Native Ireland folks); "Sans's Head Found" (Sans a trooping faerie killed by the Oak King, Yu) and many many more.

They tie into each other by who they are and why they are killed.

The one person that I'm sorry had to die so the story would move forward is: Mrs. Christianson (Krys's adopted mother). She's already dying from cancer and her worst fear happened when one of the bads faerie, Aidan just showed up announced. He leaks out the secret of who Krys is and then stabs her mother several times before Krys gets away crying. Sad part, but is she dead REALLY!!!! No one really knows except the character herself.

RE: DEATH THREAD!!!!!

No really major characters will die but, this is a Western. If you are not quick, then you are dead. LOL!

To try is to risk failure. Not to try is to assure it.

RE: DEATH THREAD!!!!!

I'm doing a western too. Since it's about how the main character becomes a killer - first almost accidentally and then quite deliberately and cold-blooded - there's a fair few deaths. Three major characters and about seven or eight minor ones bite the dust.

RE: DEATH THREAD!!!!!

I'm killing off one of my characters. His death is central to the plot, but he himself is a fairly minor character. I feel a bit bad for him (he's just a little kid), but he had to die. Or else my script would be completely pointless.

RE: DEATH THREAD!!!!!

Did you kill one or more of your characters? Why?
Oh yes. Many many Indians die while attacking the Fort. Citizens as well as Soldiers are killed in these attacks by the Indians and the Huge, Ferocious BEASTS that appear to fight alongside them. (Bigfoot?)

What character did you wish didn't die? Why?
My main character (Union Colonel) who feels that the Devil is coming for him for his dark past and many sins against man. Moby Dick-ish in that he goes out hacking away at the Beast that comes for him. His past and demeanor made him a fascinating and deep character that I hated to see go - but What A Way To Go!!

What character were you happy was dead? Why?
The Battle-Hardened Union Sgt whose rage/fear drives him crazy and a danger to everyone he comes near. His death proves that despite the horrors ones enemies might unleash, there must be good vs. evil. When one becomes as evil as the evil it fights, everyone loses.

Did you feel less stress once the death occurred?
Yes, as well as the other soldiers and civilians occupying the Fort they shared with this unpredictable madman.

Tell me if I'm weird. I'm writing an adaptaion of my NaNo novel, and I've just gotten to the part where one of my MC kills, albeit by accident, an 11 year old boy. It's as disturbing to me now as it was when I first wrote it. Is that a sign of good writing, or am I just a wuss?

RE: DEATH THREAD!!!!!

Oh I've lost count of how many times my main character has died...but she's immortal so she just keeps coming back. I've got two of them...they've started stabbing each other...it's fun! :)
