Parking can be a bit of an issue around here.
My building has no visitors' parking spaces (unbelievable, huh) and unfortunately my own car space has been let out.
There's on-street parking, and during a weekday there'd probably be little problem in securing a spot, but unfortunately it is metered. I think it's about $2 an hour, but I could be wrong, ie it could be more, maybe even twice that. I can find out if you like.
There's probably something free within 30 minutes walk, but don't ask me where as I'm woefully ignorant about such matters. :-(
One possibility is the parking at the Fish Markets (just across the road). It's metered as well (not sure what the rate is) but you used to be able to exploit a little loophole where if you stayed there past the time that the parking guard went home (sometime during late afternoon/early evening) you didn't have to pay to get out, you could just drive out. But I'm not sure if that little exploit still exists. Ie, they might have changed things so that either you pay on your way in or they put barriers up to stop you from getting out. Or it might still work...
Sorry I can't provide any concrete help, but let me know if you want to research any of these options further.
