Fortune Reading

I want two of my characters to go to one of those walk in fortune tellers. Anyone been to one? Know what would go on? Or have any ideas about something like this? I've never done it myself so I don't quite know what to write. Thanks!!

RE: Fortune Reading

Well, this isn't from personal experiance, but I do know the basic idea of how these things go.

Usually, the psyhic (s/p) will have an enterance room where he/she will have potions and such up for sale. Then, he/she will have a smaller room in the back where the fortune telling is performed.

The typical instruments for fortune telling are tarot cards, charms, spices, small, rounded gems called occult stones and some kind of regal centerpiece. The norm used to be a crystal ball, but ever since the leap occultism made into mainstream culture, the crystal ball has been a parody item of the practice. The centerpiece is usually a exotic flower, special charm, metal or something along those lines. The psychic will usually hold the centerpiece in his/her hands while performing the fortune telling.

Many psychic choose to tape record thier sessions, so that they can refer back to them later (or, as I have heard, use them as evidence in the occurance that they get sued).

I hope this helps!

RE: Fortune Reading

This really depends on the fortune teller. There are about a thousand different fortune telling methods.I mostly know about tarot cards. There will be a deck of cards with symbols, runes, or pictures on them. They will be shuffled, then whoever is having their fortune told will usually be asked to draw a certain number of cards (or shuffle the cards, or close their eyes and point to one, etc.) The cards they pull will have pictures/runes that symbolize something about their future (a sun symbolizes prosperity, a tree symbolizes growth). The cards often affect each other (e.g. a card means something different when with another card.) Sometimes instead of doing a general reading, the client will ask a specific question, and the cards will point to an answer. Sometimes the cards are laid out in a specific formation where each position means something.

That's all I can think of now. Hope this helps!
