Fist Fight...

Ok I've never been in a fist fight, or even really punched for that matter, before but I've found that a couple of the scenes in my ship story involve fighting or at least punching to some degree. What does it feel like? What are some good "moves"? Thank you in advance.

Also, no weapons are involved...(As far as guns and knives) The two people involved are 15 and 16, and they are off in a quiet place aboard ship by themselves when the fight(s?) occur.

RE: Fist Fight...

I've never been in a serious fight, but here are a few things that might (hopefully) help you:

The best way (debatably) to punch some one is to start with your hand curled into a fist, fingers up, with your arm bent so your fist is at your side. As you bring your arm forward, untwist it so your fingers face down.

In a real fight, the object is not to look stylish (in a script this might be different). The object is to cause the other person as much pain as possible. Hair pulling, biting, clawing etc. are all used.

I can't think of anything else right now. . . Hope this helps a little.

RE: Fist Fight...

If your two combatants have any training, there probably won't be much punching as such; more grappling, elbows, knees, like that. If they're untrained, unsure of what to do and try to punch it out, consider that: a) it's rare that you can knock somebody out with one punch -- giving somebody a concussion requires moving his head fast enough that his brain slosh against the inside of his skull; b) it's really easy to bust a knuckle hitting somebody's head, which is pretty hard.
