Continuing a script?

I know it's not allowed in NaNoWriMo, but it seems like last year Script Frenzy allowed continuations...

Anyway, basically what I'm asking is, is continuing a script allowed this year?

RE: Continuing a script?

I'm also doing a comic and I'm continuing where I left off last year. Although I did finish four complete issues of said comic script, so I'm technically picking up the next issue. It never occurred to me it might not be allowed...

RE: Continuing a script?

Yeah, this'll actually be the third year working on the same script for me! Haha. I started a new one last year, but then I read on the site somewhere that it was okay to continue old scripts (if you only count the new pages) so I switched to the old one, since the new one ended up needing a bit more planning... But anyway, I just wanted to be sure that it's okay :]

RE: Continuing a script?

I asked Jennifer, and here's her reply:

"As long as all 100 pages of the script are original material, then yes! I guess it would be considered a sequel! "

RE: Continuing a script?

Okay, cool. That counts in my case as well, right? Because I'm just picking up where I left off, it's not really a next issue or anything... But basically as long as I add 100 pages of new material onto the story, as in not rewriting, it's okay? (And of course not counting the previous pages toward the SF total!)

Thanks Dragonchilde and Jennifer! :]

RE: Continuing a script?

I thought the way it was for NaNo was you could add onto a novel so long as you wrote 50k (Although it was preferred to write a completely new manuscript)?
They might've changed it on me. XD

RE: Continuing a script?

No, on NaNo, you've always had to start a new novel from scratch. :)

RE: Continuing a script?

I was planning on adding some scenes to beef up my B story for a pilot I wrote a while back.

The plan was to write the new scenes in a separate file to count just those pages toward SF. It'll probably just be a few pages, but I'm writing a lot of different stuff to finish up SF to make up for my two parter turning into a one parter.

It didn't occur to me that might not be allowed. Let me know if it's not allowed.

RE: Continuing a script?

Based on the rules as I've read them/interpreted them, you should be fine doing what you proposed. In order to officially validate, you must have exactly one PDF file, so I'd recommend that you either do the new work in your one script project (make a new Act or Scene or whatever) or copy it from its real home and paste it into your validation project. Good luck.
