Newbies check-in |
I didn't see a thread for this yet... sorry to the Mods if there is already one.
Newbies? Anyone?
*Raises hand* I did NaNo last year, and considered SF, but never got around to it. Here I am! Ready for the challenge. How about you?

Heylo! I am Becca. :] I considered doing NaNoWriMo 2007, but I was overwhelmed. And I missed it 2008. I found about SF a month or so ago and am pumped! :]

I'm new, too.
I did Nano08 and had a lot of fun. So here I am.
I have never written a script before, so I'm a little concerned. I'm sure I'll be more concerned as it gets closer to April.

Hey! This is my first SF. I attempted to NaNo '08 but just couldn't get it together. I actually minored in Screenwriting and screenplays are my medium of choice so I'm hoping to due SF this year and rock it out :)

I'm new too. I started NaNo in 2008, but I joined November 16, and moved November 25, so I didn't finish. It's got me hooked, though, and I've started another story to work on and totally doing Script Frenzy - or at least as long as I'm able to devote to it.
NaNoWriMo 2008: The Concordia Killer - failed miserably
ScriptFrenzy 2009: Coincidence - won
NaNoWriMo2009: Changing Shadows (starting over from scratch....) |

New here too - I did NaNo last year and despite struggling I managed to finish a day early without actually finishing the story, but that's one word file that's never seeing the light of day again... D:
Really excited about SF, ordered a shirt already, totally new to scriptwriting so it should be interesting, especially as I haven't thought out my plot yet xD

Hey everyone, this'll be my first SF - and apart from a couple of short things written more than a decade ago, this will be my first go at writing a script ever! Got a few ideas, but going to work on a fairly detailed outline before April 1st...

I'm a Screnzy n00b, but I've done NaNo about four times, having finally won one in '08. It was bad. Really bad. But I still love it. Hoping I'll enjoy this just as much as NaNo, and looking forward to getting started.

Can't wait for the Frenzy, this will be my first attempt!

Well I did Nano 08 and won massively (I won't even bother telling you) but after having many people read one of the novels I wrote in Nano (I wrote 2, neither completed) and they all were loving it I decided I would try my hand at Script Frenzy. I'm looking forward to my first time and seeing I am a quick typist and overflowing with ideas I am going for 200 pages or more in the month. Wish me luck!

Successes:
Nano 2008 - Twisted Nightmare - 50k words!
Nano 2008 - Romance Kills - 50k words!
SF 2009 - Horse Power - 101 pages! |

RE: Newbies check-in |
Hi Everyone!!
This will be my first script frenzy!! I'm really excited as I need some major mental distractions from my life right now. This will allow me to dump my creativity into a project. I missed NaNo in November so unofficially did it in December. I finished it about 3 days early and felt so great afterwards. I'm really looking forward to this next creative project. I'm going to spend March learning how to set it up. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

RE: Newbies check-in |
This will be my first year doing SF. I've tried Nano twice before, and failed. The first time... well, I didn't even get to begin. Last year I managed to get 13,000+ words done before deciding I didn't like what I was writing.
Truth be told, SF never interested me before. But since I was having problems with my writing (writer's block, not because I didn't have any ideas, but because I had them but couldn't properly write them down), I decided to try SF for a change. A change of "format", that's it; since a script revolves mainly around dialog, I thought of it as a way to practice on writing conversations and "flow" of scenes.
So far I've been writing some scenes, just to get used to the formatting. It's my first time doing a script, after all... And I have this feeling I'm doing it all wrong. But, anyway, guess there's a first time for everything...

RE: Newbies check-in |
Frenzy n00b here as well :) I did NaNo last year, but I made it a little past halfway, as I was unfortunately distracted by my early Christmas present - A brand new Xbox 360. Yes... I have a weakness for gaming, as you can tell. But right now I am writing a script (not for Script Frenzy) featuring two characters of my own creation. I have written short drabbles of these two before, and I had this great idea to begin a script about the two of them to get the hang of writing in the format of a script (since I have never written a script before). So far all is going well! I can't wait to begin this year's Script Frenzy! It is going to be so... crazy and exciting! :D

I'm new here too. It seems most of the people here tried their luck at NaNo before. I've never tried it. Is Screnzy as overwhelming as NaNo? I think I can write nearly three pages everyday, but I have to be really, REALLY prepared beforehand. What I try to do is this in March. I hope I can make it.
I was already planning to write a script nowadays, so I'm excited.

RE: Newbies check-in |
Well, despite sounding like a broken record, I'll say it: I did Nano last year, but this is my first Frenzy. I didn't know about Script Frenzy until December.
And from December until now, I have been waiting impatiently for three months for March to finally arrive.
I managed to achieve the 50,000 word goal for Nano (with quite a bit of cheating, admittedly)but unfortunately the story itself was far from complete. So I'm hoping for a better outcome in Script Frenzy this year.
Yay!
NaNoWriMo '08: Nobody's Thief- WON

Hey there :)
My first time doing Screnzy...I also skipped NaNo last year...I have done NaNo three times, won twice and I've written a script once before but it was about 12 minutes long and was a play me and my brother played all the parts in. I was about 5 at the time! lol
I'm nervous, but excited too...and I'm always looking for friends to chat with! lol

RE: Newbies check-in |
I guess I count - I've been trying to do both NaNo and Screnzy since '06, but my life is apparently such a mix of nutty mishaps and unfortunate distractions that I've never gotten more than a few hundred words out. A sampling:
NaNo '06: Plot fell apart the day before it started, and school distracted me before I could get a new one.
SF '07: Computer epic-failed at about 11:58 p.m. the night before, and didn't recover for a few days. I got the most done here of any attempt, but I had lost too much momentum from not being able to hype up on the forums.
NaNo '07: Barely planned anything, and decided not to do it, because I was having some identity issues all through October. I recovered just before Halloween, but I still didn't feel like throwing anything together.
SF '08: I didn't know about the change from June to April, and I found out about halfway through the month. :P
NaNo '08: Was too concerned over the election and Proposition 8 in California, and I couldn't concentrate on a story.
So yeah. XD Hopefully this time I can finally get something done - this is my strongest story with my best characters yet, so hopefully.

RE: Newbies check-in |
I've done NaNo for the past three years, but this'll be my first year doing Screnzy. I'm actually pretty nervous about it. 100 pages seems like a much scarier goal than the 100K words I did this past November!

Hi! This is my first time doing SF, I am really excited about it. My sister and I are doing it together (she pulled me into it). She did Nano, so any experience I have is from the stories she has told me (i.e. sleepless nights staring at a laptop screen)

Did NaNo last year, and it TOTALLY ROCKED. And I love movies, and want to make 'em, so here I am. XD Couldn't resist another crazy month of writing. Especially since I don't write much otherwise. (Which is kinda stupid since I love the feeling... I need motivation. *sigh*)

I've never done SF or NaNo before, mostly because I just heard about it. I have written novels and scripts before, but never like this. I'm quite excited and ready for many sleepless nights!

RE: Newbies check-in |
Newbie here, but I've got something else to express.
You know, thirty days ago, I was pretty psyched. I became even more enthralled by the upcoming event as the days numbered down into the forties. But now? It's gone cold. Maybe it's just a lot of real life that has come up in the past week or so, but I feel like I've got less and less energy for this frenzy. Kinda sad is all.
Anyway, while I was supposed to have started script research earlier this month and haven't, I think I've gotten it down that I would like to write an audio play and that I would like to do so on my typewriter, provided I can make the R key not stick as often as it does.

Evenin' all...
I've never done SF before, but I have lurked around NaNo for several years, hovering and using the forums.
I suppose you could say that I'm not seriously gonna try and get to the pagecount (just too much homework!) but I'm using this to try and kickstart me into writing this play that's been nagging at the back of my mind for nearly a year.
I need to stop planning and start writing!
I'm a performing arts student so I'm hoping that drama experience and easy access to actors may make this whole process a little easier.
Look forward to talking to you all!

RE: Newbies check-in |
hi! I'm completely new. I just found out about SF today and I just joined! I mostly write novels and short stories; I recently had to do a short script for school, so after I found this I'm totally inspired! Still have to come up with a stickable idea. I change my mind all the time on what to write. So...yeah. I can't wait, and I hope I can make it to 100!
