...wth. Why are the forums so dead? o.o
ANYWAY.
Dare tiemz.
DARE: Have "random dancing" in your script (see iCarly).

- Triple bonus points and over nine thousand rep points if it's to "Never Gonna Give You Up."
DARE: Include the line "the cheese stands alone."
DARE: Have a character say "timotei."
- Bonus points if they say it multiple times
- Double bonus points if they say it while stroking their hair
- Triple bonus points if you combine the two

RE: Screnzy! 2009 Dares |
A lot of those are hard to do in a purely auditory medium like a radio script; however, taking:
Include the line "the cheese stands alone."
In the middle of a song, have someone stop everyone and say "you need to raise your eyebrows up like 'Holy crap, I'm gonna sing in-tune today!'"
Leaving:
Include the line "It's 7 P.M., do you know where your pants are?"
-Bonus points if a character says it multiple times.
--Double bonus points if it is, in fact, 7 P.M.
---Triple bonus points if someone responds with "Yes, they're ____" or "No, actually, have you seen them?"
----Quadruple bonus points if the answer is serious.
Have a character with no other function than to be always reading.
-Bonus points if all the other characters assume s/he must be important to the plot.
--Double bonus points if she isn't, she's just there to take up space.
---Triple bonus points if your script is not otherwise a comedy.

Hmmm... I want
DARE: Have a character make references to the ShamWow.
- Bonus points if they say "shamwow!" in surprise, instead of "gasp," "wow," et cetera.
and
DARE: Have the same conversation happen three times, then start a fourth time, at which one character asks if anyone else is feeling deja vu.
- Bonus points if everyone else doesn't know what he/she is talking about and the have the conversation a fourth time anyways.
I have the perfect situations for both of those. And I'll leave
DARE: Have a character jump a shark.
-Bonus points if the character complains it's going to kill their ratings.
DARE: Have a character who only speaks in haiku.

I know, I'm sorry. :( I keep forgetting Screnzy! is now also for scripts for graphic novels, radio programs, et cetera.
I'm most definitely taking the "do you know where your pants are?" dare. :)

And I'll leave:

Double Points - if the character continues to speak in a really deep voice.
Triple points - if the character still dresses as a male OR if the characters he interacts with mention something about his hair/clothes being too masculine for a Kathy.
Quadruple points - if the character answers to Kathy for all of the last half, except the last scene in which he reverts to his name without telling anyone else but makes his voice VERY high pitched (like, fake female high-pitched)

RE: Screnzy! 2009 Dares |
Excellent inspiration here!
I'll take:
Dare:Have the same conversation happen three times, then start a fourth time, at which time one character asks if anyone else is feeling deja vu.
Bonus Points if everyone else doesn't know what he/she's talking about and has the conversation again anyway.
Dare: Have your characters complain about how nothing exciting ever happens while a person is getting kidnapped in the background.
Bonus Points if they know the person.
and
Dare: Have a character with no other function than to always be reading.
And I'll leave you with:
Dare: Have a character poke someone in the nose and say "boop!"
Bonus Points if the characters aren't dating.
Double Bonus Points if neither character is a child.
and
Dare: Have a character randomly take off his/her pants.
Bonus Points if they are completely relaxed about it.
Double Bonus Points if everyone else is also relaxed about it.

RE: Screnzy! 2009 Dares |
I think I might be using these, if not for the the scripts I write in April, then for future ones in the same series:
Dare: Have your characters complain about how nothing exciting ever happens while a person is getting kidnapped in the background.
Bonus Points if they know the person.
I already have a kidnapping episode planned out, even. :) Though I might do it with a cut-to rather than having the characters be in the same place.
Dare: Have a character randomly take off his/her pants.
Bonus Points if they are completely relaxed about it.
Double Bonus Points if everyone else is also relaxed about it.
I can totally see several of my characters doing this, really, it might have happened even without the dare. XD
None of my own to add right now, but I'll try to contribute something later.

- Bonus points if the songs all relate to something that another character has just said
- Double bonus points if on one occasion, the character starts to sing and another character cuts them off/shuts them up somehow.
And leaving:
Dare: A character with a bicycle fobia.
Bonus points: If bicycles are the most important form of transportation in your script.
Double bonus points: Getting the phobic character on a bike saves the day.
Dare: A duck.
Bonus points: It talks.

I'll be taking the unnoticed kidnapping dare - will probably turn the episode into something where one of the characters goes mad, Sylvester Stallone style, and tracks down the kidnappers.
Will take the "It's 7 O'clock - Do you know where your pants are?" dare, too.
Oh, and I'll squeeze a Chinese Fire Drill in somewhere :D
Also,
DARE
- Have all the characters referr to a character who never appears on screen.
- B.P. this character has a really common name, like Bob or Jo.
- D.B.P. If one character does not know said character and always asks "Who's *name*?", only to be ignored.

RE: Screnzy! 2009 Dares |
This thread has given me many ideas for my characters! Thanks to all who've commented with their dares so far.
Let's see, I'm taking:
Dare: Have a character that will spontaneously break out in song (only is character is NOT already in a musical)
- Bonus points if the songs all relate to something that another character has just said
- Double bonus points if on one occasion, the character starts to sing and another character cuts them off/shuts them up somehow.
This fits my main character just fine. He's just the cheerful/playful type, let him be the amateur singer now.
Have a character with no other function than to be always reading.
-Bonus points if all the other characters assume s/he must be important to the plot.
--Double bonus points if she isn't, she's just there to take up space.
Taking note of that one, too!
Include the line "It's 7 P.M., do you know where your pants are?"
That's how my script actually begins, except it's almost noon. And in addition to his pants, nobody seems to know where the rest of his clothes are. Also: this turns out to be a key point for the plot, but later on. And a serious key point.
Leaving:
Dares:
- Include a rather important character to the plot who's never really shown in scene and not even mentioned by name. But we all know who he is and what he does.
- Include yet another character who's always in a seemingly drinking stupor and spends most of his or her screentime lying on the floor or any other flat surface... But has the knack to utter the right thing in just the right moment. Such as a key plot point the characters were overlooking, or a hint to a mystery.
- Include a flashback within a flashback. If you prefer to make it even harder (and maybe more confusing), let it be a flashback in a flashback in a flashback in a... And we haven't even cut to the following scene yet.

RE: Screnzy! 2009 Dares |
Dare: Invent a character who uses the phrase "fromag-a-käse" (French and German for cheese) instead of "cheese".
Bonus points if they use it every time they say the word cheese, even in very serious situations
Double bonus points if another character coins the phrase
Triple bonus points if you include a supermarket where the cheese counter sign is changed to say "Fromag-a-käse Counter" for a practical joke or otherwise.
Dare: Have a Twilight nerd in your story.
Bonus points if they quote the books when there is nothing to say.
Double bonus points if they use the phrase "What would edward Cullen do?" consistently.
Yeah, I be lame. I can't think of anything right now.

Dare: Include the joke "What do you tell someone with an explosive whistle?" "Blow that whistle!" somewhere.
Bonus points if no one laughs.
Double bonus points if everyone does.
Triple bonus points if it's somehow relevant.
Dare: Have someone ask why his/her notebook has glitter sparkles on its pages.
Bonus points if it had always been glittery.
Double bonus points if it's apropos of nothing.
Dare: Have a character who hates the way his/her lips feel without chapstick, but who can't find their favoured brand and thus bitches about having to use inferior ones.
Bonus points if the character otherwisely doesn't give too much time to their looks.
Hm. I can't think of any more. :P

Dare: Include a character who will only go outside in formal clothes, Professor Moriarty-ish: suit or tuxedo, long coat, top hat, walking stick.
Bonus points if there is no formal occasion.
Double bonus points if no one finds it odd.
Triple bonus points if it isn't winter.
and, as a tribute to my slightly bizarre high school French teacher (really!)
Dare: Include a character who walks around with an invisible dog leash.
Bonus points if he talks to the dog: "Fido! Sit! No, no, Fido, don't do that!"
Double bonus points if no one finds it odd.
Triple bonus points if another character can see the dog, but the character with the leash can't

Bonus points if no one laughs.
Double bonus points if everyone does.
Triple bonus points if it's somehow relevant.
I'm taking that one, and leaving:
Dare: Have somebody spout off random calculations that sound really cool, but don't mean anything.
Bonus Points if everyone else thinks those numbers are important
Double Bonus Points if somehow, at least one character gets into a life-threatening situation because of it.
