Your Play in 10 words or less? |
I love hearing about other people's play ideas, but I don't usually have time to read through all of the long (and wonderfully detailed) descriptions. How about giving the basic idea of your script in about ten words or less? :) And no, I don't care if the description is slightly over 10 words. I'm not that anal-retentive.
Here's mine.
Tentative Title: The Brainiac Killer
Description: Nerdy murders have geeks on edge in this musical comedy.

Tentative Title: "The Homefront"
Description: A war-widow remarries and then discovers her husband still alive.
It sounds kind of bland but it's the best I can do in Ten Words. It will (hopefully) be a tear-jerking drama.
SF 2009: "The Homefront" (91pgs) not a winner but complete

The Forgotten Way
The long and storied history of the letter's varied uses.
------------------------
I know it sounds boring, but think for a moment of all the things you ever get by mail. Long love letters, ads, bills, correspondance from a loved one at war. A U.S. Army KIA message, should be a bit of everything, from comedy to tears.

Tentative title: Meredith
Description: Would you kill your best friend to save yourself?
So that's also my tagline, but it's really the best description I can come up with. Anyting else might give too much away or take much more than ten words.

Slightly off topic... |
n3mzay, you MUST read Ella Minnow Pea (if you haven't already). Coincidentally, first novel attempt by a playwright Mark Dunn. Epistolary novel: as letters begin to drop from a plaque with the phrase "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog", those letters become outlawed, making written (and spoken) communication increasingly difficult.

My play's an adaptation of Will Ferguson's novel, Happiness (TM).

I changed my mind later once I started brain-storming on an idea that has been stuck in my head for months. Also, it is no longer a music, but a play with music. Now, here is the new info:
No title at the moment.
Description: Romeo and Juliet with heroin, pills and alternative rock.

Gotta say, though, 'Death in the Blue Roses', 'When in the Presence of Royalty', 'Meredith', 'My Desert Island', and 'When the Light Goes Out' REALLY intrigue me; I'll have to watch for that script to start developing..."
