Heh heh, anyone not writing a script?

I planned to write a script at the beginning of March, but now I intend to write a 40,000 word novella. Do I still get to count it on the site? Is anyone else doing something like this?

I'm writing a 40,000 word novella this year instead of a script. Wish me luck!

RE: Heh heh, anyone not writing a script?

I think I'm going to do that. Except I'm going to aim for 50,000 words again.
I just have a really good idea for a book, not a movie/TV show.
And I wouldn't really know what to do with a script. Although I hear that's not a problem.

Edit:
But I don't think it will really 'count.' But I'm sure we're still 'allowed' to use the site. You know, the energy is infectious.

Not writing a script either! Tried that once and realised it's not for me. Instead, I'm going to use the motivational energy on the forums to write a 75,000-word novel!

RE: Heh heh, anyone not writing a script?

why don't you just write your novel/novella as a play? the point is it's a challenge, and it's not like it's really so hard.

guy1 smiled. girl1 looked coyly over, and fluttered her eylashes. "hello" she said. guy1 blinked, then replied, "uh, hi".

OR

guy1: (smiles)
girl1:(looks at him coyly, and flutters eyelashes)Hello
guy1:(blinks)uh, hi

you see? it's the same. just a bit shorter, and you can sort that out by putting artful spaces and paragraphs, and indents and the pile later.
i think you sould rise to the challenge!

RE: Heh heh, anyone not writing a script?

I don't do it because I'm not interested in writing a script. It's just not as much fun, for me. I just want to get this novel written and I seem to be incapable of doing that by myself, so I'm modifying this challenge to suit my needs.

There really should be more than one NaNo a year...

RE: Heh heh, anyone not writing a script?

I'll be writing a script, but I'll be using it as a guideline for a novel. Whether I'll write the novel during the month as well (probably not because I'm moving house- sorry, /country/ in April v.v) I don't know, but either way it'll end up novelified.

Hee hee, novelified. ^-^

I'm probably going to be writing a novel, just cause my story doesn't seem right for a movie . . . lol

I did a search and I found (unofficial) NaNo's and the like for pretty much every month.

Well, the Script Frenzy site is not set up for word counts. Strictly speaking, you'd not be participating in the Script Frenzy challenge, so it would be kinda silly to claim winner status when you didn't actually write a script. :)

However, if you do use the site, please consider donating! We are 100% dependent on your donations, and without those donations, there's no Script Frenzy, no NaNoWriMo, no Office of Letters and Light. :)

I suppose if you wrote a hundred pages worth of prose that is about as close as you could get to fulfilling Script Frenzy without writing a Script.

RE: Heh heh, anyone not writing a script?

Heh, I'm breaking the rules too. Got 35k of a draft; I should be near the Final Confrontation but my main characters haven't even met each other yet. So I'll be trying to get 100 pages (longhand!) of that done instead of scripting.

Thanks for the info Dragonchilde, I'll donate on the eve of my victory to appease my conscience. ;)

RE: Heh heh, anyone not writing a script?

I'm a nano guy not a script guy. I refuse to write something I might not be able to use, and it's much more likely that I will be able to get a novel published, rather than a script.

So I'm writing a novel, obviously, a 100 page novel in size 11 calibri (body) print. If I complete this, I will have won the 100-page challenge, have a fully-written story AND logically speaking I will have written more than anyone who completes it only writing a script.
