So, when I go to a thread with multiple pages (like the Dares in Plot Doctoring) a section pops up telling me to save my forum settings. If I do that, then click save, the settings don't save and the page refreshes with the setting prompt still there. If I try to move on to the next page, it does the same thing - refreshes to the first page, with a big red settings prompt telling me that I need to submit them.

I'm using Mac OS X (10.5.6) with Firefox 3.1b3. The same problem occurs in Safari, version 3.2.1

If you can fix this or even tell me what's going on, I'd be eternally appreciative. I'm pretty much floored. Thanks.

I just wanted to add that I'm on a Mac OS X (10.5.6) as well, viewing in Safari 3.2.1 and the above doesn't actually happen to me at all. As a ML, I'm on here heaps and I haven't had it happen to me even once.

Just to make it difficult for you all to fix :p I know the more information you have it can sometimes help...

I just tried the Dares thread and I'm seeing a combination of things. First thing I'm noticing is that I'm getting asked to "save my settings", just like The Tori describes. Clicking the button doesn't seem to actually do anything. But, it does appear that I can get to page two without trouble.

I am using IE 8 (RTM) in compatibility mode on Windows XP SP3 right now. I can try IE 8 RTM (compatibility) on Vista SP1 if that would help, too. Or I have several machines on IE 7 as well.

More info I figured I'd bring up: The prompt to set/save settings on the Dares thread is appearing at the TOP of the thread, while I get the viewing settings options at the BOTTOM of every other thread. This may be something that can help troubleshoot the issue!

One suggestion to The Tori -- try going to a different thread, perhaps even this one, and set your viewing options (at the bottom). Mine are saving when I set them on one of these shorter threads. I use Threaded, oldest first, 50 posts per page and as I said it appeared to be showing me the second page on the Dares thread despite the weird message.

I'm thinking there's something really, really wonky with cookies going on right now, and I bet it's the same problem causing multiple issues. I'd bet money this is related to the access denied in profiles problem.
