Please help!!

I really want to find pics of people so that I can picture them in my head while writing, but I have NO idea what site to go to. I've tried google imaging but it just takes too long with barely any good results.

Thanks

RE: Please help!!

Hmm... well, the best way I've found to find pictures is to figure out who I'm looking for and then do a search. The Internet Movie Database is a good place to find pictures.

Unfortunately, I have no idea where to find a site with photos of just random people - they usually require you to know in advance who you're looking for. Have you tried movies? My favorite technique, if I can't (or don't want to) imagine a face, is to choose a favorite actor of mine to fill the role and imagine him/her doing everything.

RE: Please help!!

I, too, always need pics to go with my characters when I write. I normally cut them out of catalogues, magazines etc. Actually, when I see a pic of someone slightly unusual in a magazine or catalogue, I often cut the picture out and keep it for later use, I have kind of a paper scrap collection.

A few years ago the company I was working for outsourced their marketing, so they shut down their own marketing department and I was able to get my hands on stock photo catalogues. Those are beautiful, if you ever have a chance to grab some of those, go for it. Thousands of pics of people, animals, landscapes, scenes etc. You just have to look at those and stories start pouring out of your head (well, at least if your head works remotely like mine).

RE: Please help!!

Hollow Art is amazing for finding the right "face." They have a livejournal (http://community.livejournal.com/hollow_art/) and a regular website (http://hollow-art.com/). I've used both for coming up with the right images for characters when I'm writing. They have an alphabetical index of male and female actors/models/singers that makes it easy to search.

Another site is New Faces (http://www.newfaces.com/). You can search for models/actors by age range, location, hair color, gender, etc.

RE: Please help!!

Search online under "headshots" and "gallery" or "galleries." That will bring up photographers who do actors' headshots and have posted samples online. Some can be saved to your computer. If you want to break it down further, they often have their galleries separated into men and women, children, babies, etc.

RE: Please help!!

Actors headshots are the way to go. Google "casting agency" and enjoy the almighty masses of actors of all shapes/ages/sizes. And as a bonus they won't be famous and therefore won't come with baggage/preconceptions.
