I'm writing historical!

I'm planning to write a play based on something that happened in the 1800s, in Persia. It's a really epic story about the persecution of the Babi religion, centered on the life of a woman, Tahirih, that became a Babi and began to teach her faith to the people around her, which angered the fanatic goverment and resulted in her execution.

I was just wondering, am I the only one writing something non-fictional?

Can't wait till november!

RE: I'm writing historical!

My play is set in 19th century St Petersburg, Paris and New York, and about half the cast is historical persons (before they were famous). I have been doing tons of research but the challenge will be to let them interact (even though some of them never met in life) but to keep them all in character.

RE: I'm writing historical!

My play is about the Marquise de Brinvilliers, a 17th century French woman who used slow poisoning to kill her family and friends. Technically the story is non-fictional, but I'm going to use the structures of a traditional 5-act play to tell it, so it will be "stagey".

RE: I'm writing historical!

Mine is set in post world war two Europe, and its about triplets born in a battle (I haven't picked one yet, I'm probably going to just suck it up and do Normandy), and then seperated due to a number of circumstances. Then they find each other again and have to deal with the fact that they've been raised in all these different ways, and so on.

The story is fictional, but the setting and motives will all be non-fiction.

RE: I'm writing historical!

Mine is during WWII and it's about a young girl who lives in London, England, but her and her brothers get sent to Wales during the Blitz. I haven't fine tuned all the details yet, but those will come later.

RE: I'm writing historical!

All these sound really interesting. I could never write Historical. It's just too factual for me. If any of you guys ever get your plays published, I'd gladly perform them if I ever work in Community Theatre, or Broadway, or whatever. You all must be incredibly talented.

RE: I'm writing historical!

Mine deals with sons and daughters of families during the rise of Labor and Capitalism from the 1880s to the 1930s or thereabout. It is based on several actual incidents which occurred (the history)and people who lived or might have lived (fiction). I'm taking several leaps in logic with the plot.

RE: I'm writing historical!

I'm writing WWI: The Anthromorphic Musical. It's sort of based off this thing called Hetalia, which is history only instead of countries, you have people.

It's a lot of fun, though writing the Christmas Truce will break my heart.
