So the FMC in my screen play has been blessed with a staggering number of meet cutes in her life. All of her relationships have been initiated by a vaguely cheesy, but mostly sweet, meet cute. My MMC is her coworker and best friend, been totally in love with her forever (I know, total Jim/Pam [or Tim/Dawn if I'd like to be fair] cop out), etc. When he tries to comfort her after her latest break up (they all start cute, but most end badly) he cautiously suggests that maybe she should look more closely at people she knows, such as at work. She immediately has a meet cute with their new coworker. Enter main conflict.

But anyway, I was trying to figure out HOW I would work those previous meet cutes in. I think I could get a couple in as an introduction, voiced over by either the quintessential narrator voice (i.e. James Earl Jones, Morgan Freeman, the like) or my MMC, explaining FMC's inexplicable meet cute magnetism. But that couldn't last long, and I want a few more.

Any ideas on how I can cram some more in? (And if you like, you can suggest some meet cutes as well.)

Maybe have her monologue in the beginning "I always meet cute and can see the opportunity for them..." Then see two people right before their meet cute and the guy screw up. And her call him on it. Then have her mentally go through hers? Does that make sense?

And don't feel bad about a people meeting at work, I heard something like 30% of couples meet at work. Kinda' sucks if your job is all female employees though.

Oooh, I rather like that. I have a desperate need for general "things" to happen. Maybe at some point FMC and MMC are like having lunch together, she points out a meet cute about to happen, which then fails. And then she could definitely start talking about her own meet cute in a related situation.

Oh that sounds cute! Maybe have the MMC give her crap for having all these meet cute stories and as a joke forces her to list them all out. Oh! And then at the end you could have him write on the bottom of the list how they met cute and in her mind it's non-traditional, yet he thinks it is totally a meet cut. Sorry... just thinking.

All the meetings with males in my script are not cute at all... Kinda' jealous of yours now!

Actually, I'm being an obnoxious little nonconformist and have decided I'm not going to make her love interest into the bad guy, ergo I have no reason to break up FMC and FMC's love interest, so MMC isn't actually going to end up with FMC. He'll have his own meet cute with someone else.

But yeah, the list is an excellent idea. I need to come up with more meet cutes.... So far I have a few library ones (I work in a library. Daydreams while shelving are dangerous.), and then I figured out a coffee shop one. I could use a dog for one....

I desperately need character names too. Oh man.

I'm a big fan of the flashback/voice over.
