Suitable for Zombies?

Hey, I'm kinda stuck on what music I should be writing to, this April.

I'm doing the whole biological zombie song and dance, so I need stuff that is horror-esque (either violent, just disturbing in content, passive aggressively creepy)

but of course, I'll need other off beat stuff. Stuff for interactions between characters, music to write death scenes by (I only have one of these and I want to write it for the very end...)

Here's some stuff I'm familair with:
Current 93, Nick Cave, Nox Arcana, Sopor Aeternus, Akira Yamaoka, Diamanda Galas, Battery Cage, DOA, Throbbing Gristle and Tom Waits.

So, if you have suggestions, i would love you forever if you could share.

RE: Suitable for Zombies?

Looks like you're already doing pretty well! Tom Waits is always a great choice, especially for zombies.

Here's some individual songs that come to mind:
Christian Says - Tones On Tail
Vampyre - Pete Yorn
She's Lost Control - Joy Division
Infra-Red - Placebo
the entire album Hail to the Thief - Radiohead

Hope this helps!

RE: Suitable for Zombies?

These were excellent choices! I especially love Infra-red, as I can see it being about my character's Dallas and Brian.

If you have anything else to suggest, please do!

RE: Suitable for Zombies?

Ludo is my usual standby for writing anything for a horrific nature, especially if it has to do with zombies or twisted reasoning). I specifically recommend the song "The Horror of Our Love". Generally, they have fairly upbeat and energetic melodies.

If you're looking for something a little more disorienting, slow, and hypnotic for your background music, I'd go with Animal Collective. They're music is all over the place, but they've got some stuff that I think would work if you're going for an ethereal type of death. Prime example would be "Banshee Beat".

Happy Writing!

RE: Suitable for Zombies?

I'd consider Korn, as it's a good horror soundtrack. I also recommend looking for zombie movie soundtracks and similar. I also agree with above posters about Radiohead and Placebo. Disturbed is also a good zombie apocalypse soundtrack.

RE: Suitable for Zombies?

Haha, I have zombies in mine as well. Though there's a lot of rock influencing mine, there's quite a bit of Rihanna thrown in there too. "Disturbia" works quite with zombies, I must say.
