RE: Is anyone else writing about war?

I'm updating Johnny Got His Gun. The book is set in WWI, but I will be setting my script in Iraq (initially.)

RE: Is anyone else writing about war?

Sort of. The final stages of the script will be war.

RE: Is anyone else writing about war?

I'm a sort-of as well. Part of my script will be about a war and the war is the reason the whole story begins but most of my script will really be character development and rebellion. all that fun stuff :D

RE: Is anyone else writing about war?

Mine isn't anything so organized as an official war, but there are mass riots and bloodshed and the end of the modern world...does that count?

RE: Is anyone else writing about war?

War's a central part of my story, but it's in a fictional setting. I have plans to resolve the war by the end of the story, but I'm really not sure how that's going to all work out in the end. Oh the joys.

I keep surprising myself with how little I really know.

RE: Is anyone else writing about war?

As a matter of fact, my film is set during World War 12, in the 92nd century.

RE: Is anyone else writing about war?

I'm writing about the underground side of a cold war- the spies, the assassins, etc. It's fun.

RE: Is anyone else writing about war?

Mine's sorta about a war, techniqually its more of a futuristic crusade. Earth forcing its ideals on alien races and the such. But rather than the actual war, blood, gore, guns, ect., it's more about the intellectual and emotional side of war.
What drives people to war, what keeps people in a war, do soldiers even care about the big picture?
In the end nobody wins, a dose of reality I like to call it, but I still need a bit of work on the plot development, how it gets to the nobody winning.

RE: Is anyone else writing about war?

The screenplay I'm writing could be described as 'horror/science-fiction/war'.

The major set-piece is, to quote a line of dialogue I'm planning to include, "the greatest military operation ever mounted on Australian soil, before or after the apocalypse" (or something like that).

"A few years from now" (science-fiction), a military task force will be taking control of the ruins of Sydney Airport, so that a crippled Qantas airliner that has escaped the war-torn United States can make an emergency landing there.

That's the easy part. The hardest part will then be evacuating everyone to safety to RAAF Base Richmond, over 50 kilometres away on the western edge of Sydney, while the airport comes under attack from both land (war) and sea (horror).

RE: Is anyone else writing about war?

I'm doing a fantasy/sci-fi book that contains war to a point.

It's an adaption of my 08 NANO novel. It's set back in the mid to late 90s (it starts in '96 and goes to the end of the decade) in a haven city where the city's goddess goes back in time and the local Vampire clan matron takes the chance to take control of the city. The first character you meet takes things into her own hands and declares war on the Vampire matron.

RE: Is anyone else writing about war?

Killraven,

I love your story idea. That sounds like something I'd like to watch or read as a novel.

I also love your movie choices. Some of my favorites in there. Aliens, Road Warrior, Star Wars, The Thing are all definite classics.
