SCRENZY PLAYLISTS, ANYONE....

Okay, so I know that at least a few of you are like me, where music and food are the little things you need to survive. While I shouldn't be procrastinating and should be striving for my 5 page goal by the end of the day, I know it's of dire importance to ask....

WHAT ARE YOU GUYS LISTENING TO RIGHT NOW?!

Update it as your songs change, buddies!

I'm listening to my Pandora.com radio station all month, called 'Movies and More' ... it's basically movie soundtracks. I like it. :)

RE: SCRENZY PLAYLISTS, ANYONE....

i am listening the huge tracklist i created to write the script to. it's like 2 hours and 15 minutes long, so i have lots of writing time. currently integral to the plot are
Tegan and Sara - Nineteen, Like O, Like H, and Where Does The Good Go
The Hush Sounds - The Artist (this is like a themesong. it's just perfect in every way for what i'm going for)
Kimya Dawson - Wandering Daughter
Panic At The Disco - She Had The World, Folkin Around, and their cover of Slow Motion.

it sort of fluctuates depending on where I am in the script.

RE: SCRENZY PLAYLISTS, ANYONE....

I have a whole playlist.com thing going for mine
(http://www.playlist.com/playlist/15760062475)
The key songs are
-Running Up That Hill (Deal With God)--Kate Bush (the song my character listens to every morning)
-California Sun--Jem (oh the irony. The teenage vampire living in sunny LA ;)
-Girl--Jim Sturgess (yes, I love the Beatles to death, but this has just the right level of angst)
-Mad World--Michael Andrews (the eerie cover of Tears For Fears. Gotta love it!)
There's thirteen songs so far, but these are the most important ones.

I am really feelin Linkin Park right now. I'm writing a graphic novel, and Linkin Park is supporting my flow. Also a little classic Billy Idol with a rebel yell...some Papa Roach and Evanescence.

RE: SCRENZY PLAYLISTS, ANYONE....

In general, I listen to George Winston a lot when I'm doing things like this, but I'm listening to Pandora.com Mozart right now.

Of course, I'm also a huge cheesy Broadway addict, but it's tough for me to write while listening to something with words, especially ones that I know so well.

For awhile I was listening to the soundtrack for Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. And right now I'm listening to Let It Rock. Hey, it gets me pumped up and ready to write.

RE: SCRENZY PLAYLISTS, ANYONE....

Generally: A whole bunch of music by Abney Park. Most of which I got for free off their website, so I really should buy their CD sometime soon...

Specifically: "The Wrong Side" by Abney Park, which I really want to find a way to work into my script because it's such a perfect song... but I'm not sure exactly where. Maybe it would work for Fraser Addison, because he's kind of insane... :D

RE: SCRENZY PLAYLISTS, ANYONE....

I just took every mp3 on my computer and put it on a massive playlist. Currently, it's the Halo Theme (hahahaha). Right before it was Come So Far (Got So Far To Go) from Hairspray, and coming up is the freecreditreport.com pirate jingle. So, as you can see, I have varied musical tastes.

This is a boost to get me to write - I put it off for a week. It's either massive playlist or Pandora.

RE: SCRENZY PLAYLISTS, ANYONE....

Yeah, I definitely have a playlist :P

Some of the songs:
You've Got to Hide Your Love Away - The Beatles
(Reminds me of the love story in my play. . . also, more literally, it was written about a gay man who was not free to be open about his sexuality, which is a big part of my play :P)
Prince Charming - Adam & the Ants
(Reminds me sooo much of my main character. . . in every way)
Love Etc. - Pet Shop Boys
(I don't know how this ended up on here, but now it reminds me of my comic relief character)
Summer Love - Justin Timberlake
(This song actually reminds me of Chase Utley, which, in turn, makes me think of baseball in general)
Taking Care of Business - Bachman-Turner Overdrive
(A perfect baseball song)
The Boys Are Back in Town - Thin Lizzy
(Baseball in general)
Saturday Night - Ozomatli
(Spring training sequence, anyone?)
Boys of Summer - Don Henley
(Another stereotypical baseball song)
Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin
(This is the batter-intro song for one of the Phillies. . . Jayson Werth maybe? It's slipping my mind at the moment)
Kashmir - Led Zeppelin
(Chase Utley's batter-intro song)
Dirty Laundry - Don Henley
(Two reasons - it WAS Pat Burrell's batter-intro song, and it has a lot to do with the plot :D)
Megalomaniac - Incubus
(. . . Greg Dobbs' batter-intro song? Also slipping my mind whose it is)

So yeah. I use lots of Phillies' batter-intro songs, because they put me in a baseball mood :)

RE: SCRENZY PLAYLISTS, ANYONE....

My playlist is about 4 hours long; I pause it when I'm done writing and resume from where I left off the next day. A few of the most integral parts at the moment are:

Disturbia - Rihanna (a good song for the setting)
Follow Me - Pain featuring Anette Olzon (my main character's theme)
Opera2 - Vitas
Not Meant For Me - Static X
Zydrate Anatomy and Needle Through A Bug - Repo! The Genetic Opera

Schadenfreude from the Avenue Q soundtrack has proved to be a good song as well; I must admit I suffer from it, especially in regard to my poor characters.
