Not a Script?

Okay so my question is can I write something other than a script, (like finishing up my NaNo novel) and just use the little page progress bar as inspiration, as long as I don't validate it at the end?

RE: Not a Script?

Since SF counts pages instead of words, I don't know how helpful it would be... but there are other word count meters out there... if you have a blog or something, you could post one there and show off your mad skills! Here's a page full of them (except for the first link seems to be down at the moment): http://www.spontaneousderivation.com/2008/02/06/6-word-meters-and-tracke...

RE: Not a Script?

It'd be helpful for motivation, my finished NaNo Novel from 06 was only 98 pages and 50,048 words so even if it counts in pages I'd still be getting a lot done...
thanks for the link though...

RE: Not a Script?

Well, you can clearly write whatever you want, of course, but this is a script-writing challenge, not a novel-writing challenge. So, writing 100 pages of prose would not really be fitting within the guidelines of the event.

That doesn't mean you can't use this to help finish your NaNo novel.

In the past, I have taken ill-fitting scenes from my NaNo and created a script out of that... building the scene and fleshing it out in a way that helped me get better dialogue, figure out how a fight scene might play out with "real people", work out a complex interpersonal issue for the characters in conversational format instead of in prose. The script format allows you to explore things in a whole different way than your novel can allow.

Good luck with however you decide to proceed.
