100 pages - Finishing line! |
I didn't find a thread like this, so I decided to make them. ;)
Post here when you want to share your winning triumph!
(We have cookies, cocoa, cranberries and all other things beginning with c. You'll need them once you're done.)
I WILL finish in three days, I WILL!
(And I won't fail that physics test on tuesday, either.)
Edit: I did it! (Although I did poison myself once.)

Damn. I'm going for a five day finish, but I also work/go to school more than full time...

RE: 100 pages - Finishing line! |
I did a five-day finish last year, but this year, I just couldn't find five days off... One sick day and one day spent writing at school and I can spend the rest of the month bugging people on the forums!
I WILL finish in three days, I WILL!

i considered burning through it in a week or less, but with the move and everything, didn't want to put that kind of pressure on myself. plus i really love the 'writing community' idea of frenzy, so i'm going at a nice and leisurely pace. congrats tho! :D

You should keep going to try and write the longest movie evar. I mean, based on your current rate, you should be able to do 1575 pages EASY by the end of the month. And that's what? A twenty-six and a half hour long film? Do it!

Hahahah, a movie over a day long... Now, that would've been awesome, but I don't have the time or energy to do that, I'm barely keeping together as it is CX As for the community... I love the community so much that if I tried to take all month writing, I'd just get stuck on the boards. I usually mentor and host mass convos with word wars instead.

I've slept less hours sleeping than I've spent writing, that's for sure CX Probably like... Half as much. Or less. I dreamt about my script.

Holy crap. o.o
Last year I finished within two weeks. I'm hoping to do the same this year, even though my page-count goal is 150.

Oh, you'll definitely be able to do that - it seems like you could do it in ONE week if you wanted to!

I'm four pages short... Then I'll have done it in five days. One day less than last year. Next year, four days...

RE: 100 pages - Finishing line! |
I reached 26,000 words on Sunday. Finished in the wee hours of the morning on Monday. I'm writing it via e-mail on my Web TV, so haven't finished my word count yet.
Last year's Script Frenzy was just a hard year for me, this year the story just flowed. I was kind of sad to come to the end of my story, but I knew it was the right ending. I stayed up 4 nights in a row, then slept til noon. I'm semi-retired & can get away with that.
I started on a possible sequel at the local write-in tonight. But, I need to brainstorm on it some more.

I reached a hundred pages, but I'm not done yet... Ack! It's hard to fit a novel into a movie. I wasn't even intending to do it within a week.
Have a nice day!

RE: 100 pages - Finishing line! |
Well - I am close to reaching 200. Which I think means my script has got away from me, just a little.
But I would be more annoyed if I was writing it as an actual script to be made in to an actual film. Instead, it is a script to be read, not filmed. So 200 or so won't be so bad.
If it's true that 1 page = 1 minute (ish) (and I know I heard it somewhere), is 3 hour 20 minute film that bad?

RE: 100 pages - Finishing line! |
I've seen a lot of Bollywood movies who cross 3-4 hours without being uncomfortably long, so no, that's not that bad. Besides, scripts intended for reading need more detail anyway, and are naturally longer, so don't fret.

RE: 100 pages - Finishing line! |
Wow, Finishing in less than two days -- you must be so great at writing! 20,000 words, that's writing 50 words a minutes, no breaks, solid, for 6 hours and 40 minutes. Most people would say it was impossible, but since I've changed my script into a four-hour long play about a spelling bee my own output has skyrocketed! Here's an example:
OFFICIAL: The word is "horsecrap."
BILLY: H.
OFFICIAL: Yes.
BILLY: o.
OFFICIAL: Yes.
BILLY: r.
OFFICIAL: Yes.
BILLY: s.
OFFICIAL: Yes.
If you want to read the rest, I've put all 1,874 pages on my blog. So if you can read Ukranian, stop on by and tell me what you think!

RE: 100 pages - Finishing line! |
Cool.
Plus I think some of the pages would not take a minute, as they are mostly very quick action shots (such as "xxxx dies in a hail of bullets"). Plus the scene headings take up two lines each, so when you have ten on a page (which I do at one point, because it's a number of scenes in quick succession) that's 20 lines that wouldn't take up any time at all (unless the film displays scene headings during the projection of the movie, which does seem a tad improbable!)
Anyway - it's at 184 atm, and there is only one chapter point left, which will be about eight or nine scenes. So I think I am on course for 200 pages almost exactly.
All in all, this has been a lot of fun. Which I guess was the point. (Since I would never, ever, ever get copyright clearance to film this, I'm not going to even attempt to take it past the "writing and putting it on the web" stage)

RE: 100 pages - Finishing line! |
Well, I should've been doing about three other homework assignments, but I decided to finish my screenplay.
I haven't actually finished the story, but I've got my 100 pages done so I can devote the rest of the month to keeping my grades up instead.
When will our winner goodies show up?

I am done. I admit it is a tad more than 100 pages, but still - 191 (I am subtracting the title page) pages of fun and frolics is something I am quite proud of.

RE: 100 pages - Finishing line! |
I crossed the finish line - I am writing on - instead of even thinking about reading what I have written. I know it's bad, but I did put a three act story together with plenty of complications. I just sprinted to the end once I got through most of that long second act. Hopefully this has gotten me over a three week writer's block. Congrats to all who have crossed the line. I am not going for 200 pages, I am not that much of an over achiever. I could use the chocolate, cranberries, and a little baileys (I slipped a B word in there.)

RE: 100 pages - Finishing line! |
I reached 88 pages mid-yesterday (around noon, give or take a few minutes). Got to 113 pages last night before going to bed, but didn't have a chance to update my page count number then.
But I'm not stopping here, I'm continuing as I am an overachiever and I have more than one script anyway (and none of them are actually finished yet).

I am continuing on since it is always easier to write rough drafts than do the work of editing. Maybe I will try for 200 pages.

RE: 100 pages - Finishing line! |
Happily reached 100 yesterday. I was at sixty-something (early sixties, I think) the day before... ^_^ I really wanted to beat this dude I know... and he was at like seventy... And I did beat him, by half an hour. I was SOOOOO thrilled, and MAN was he bummed. *cackles* Anyway, it was great. Maybe I should write a screenplay in the time I have left over. XDXDXD
