Titles... well...

Hello everyone :)

My screenplay has a really lame title right now, and I thought I'd ask you guys' advice on picking a new one.

My screenplay is based on the old fairy tale of the twelve dancing princesses. My tone will be light-hearted (but with a touch of drama) fantasy.

There is a king with twelve daughters. Every day they are given a new pair of dancing shoes. Every night the daughters disappear, but they return every morning sound asleep in bed with a completely worn out pair of new dancing shoes at the foot of their beds.

This mystery has bothered the king so much that the has made an announcement throughout the kingdoms. To any man who can discover the secret of his daughters' shoes, he will grant marriage to the daughter of the man's choice. The man will have three days and nights to try to learn the secret. But if the man fails to learn the secret, he will be executed by hanging.

Enter Jack.

Jack is a young peasant who is sick of living in poverty. So he leaves his hometown and the girl who loves him (unbeknownst to him) to try to solve the mystery. Along the way he meets an old ewe sheep who says she used to have human shape who aids him on his journey as he encounters terrible dangers of all kinds- and that's just in getting to the palace alone. If he even manages to get there, he's got to find the secret or die trying.

The current title is "Jack's Grand Adventure." Lame. Ruddy lame. Any suggestions?

RE: Titles... well...

Don't worry too much about the title at this point. There's a good chance that you'll be halfway through, and write a cool line of dialogue or a description, and you'll say "Hey! That should be the title!"

Or you could just go with "Me and Ewe".

Or you could name the old woman "Olive" and call it "Olive Ewe".

RE: Titles... well...

Excellent comments earlier. For now, just call it WORKING TITLE. You can change it later as it's not the most important thing at this point. Most likely, as you get closer to mid-way through you'll probably have an amazing title pop into you head. That's usually the way it works for me and I hope that works for you, too!

Doesn't look like Screnzy has that option on their boards. It's too bad, I'd like to be able to do that too :(

RE: Titles... well...

Start playing with words that you like and sound interesting.
Examples:

The Riddle of Kings
The Mysterial (fancy word for mysterious)
The Secret Princesses
The Pauper's Riddle- this one I like a bit.
The Mysterious Riddle
Kings and Paupers
The Vanishing Princesses- to the point
