PLOT BUNNIES

Well, this may be interesting to some. Frankly I've spent the past 24-48 hours getting attacked by evil plot bunnies. I actually ended up sleeping with a pile of index cards and a sharpie next to my bed last night because I can only come up with ideas when I'm not at my computer typing. Does this happen to anyone else?

RE: PLOT BUNNIES

I usually don't write down my plot ideas because otherwise they seem to completely lose their luster. So instead I end up with a jumbled mess of bunnies in my head chewing my brains out.

RE: PLOT BUNNIES

I've been in both situations. It drives me crazy. And when I have a great plot idea all day, have character development thought out, everything, and then I get home... and I simply can't write it. I try, but the shiny gold that is was in my head turns out to be only ...crap.

A mountain always seems much larger from the bottom.

RE: PLOT BUNNIES

I'm the same way. I can't think of anything until I lie down to go to bed, then a thousand brilliant plans pop up. Since I have mild insomnia, I just work through the scenes in my head for a few hours until I fall asleep, then I get up in the morning and start typing.

RE: PLOT BUNNIES

No evil plot bunnies yet, but I normally outline my entire script before I write it... Not outline for the frenzy, though I have the main milestones in my head, but none of the chewy middle.

I feel a bit lost, but also kinda relieved I won't have to constantly update my outline as I change everything at 80% which always happens.

Looks like I'm a couple pages short, but that should be okay. Right? ;-)

RE: PLOT BUNNIES

Can't seem to even know where the script is going, let alone have it outlined. I had characters, and a place, and some kind of major event/transformation, how that happens is any one's guess! For now, I just write, and thank the script gods for a program like Zhura, the days of having to use word 3.1.1 for formatting were brutal.

trust me, I'm with you. I'm using open office and it's murder to format.

RE: PLOT BUNNIES

I just got hit with a bunch of plot bunnies last night while writing. Frenzyisms can be plot bunnies in disguise. I used one of my Frenzyism to create a character, made another mistake and created another character and now they are not quite taking over my plot...

And I keep post it notes by my bedside, great for small notes to myself. XD

RE: PLOT BUNNIES

If you can combine your plot bunnies into one story, do it. Otherwise daytime becomes a nightmare. I see story ideas everywhere--well, maybe not everywhere, but inspiration usually hits me when I least expect it.

I'm to the point now that I carry looseleaf paper with me (or in my purse) in case I'm running around and get attacked by a rabid plot bunny. (They must be breeding in my dorm room while I'm in class...still have two vampire bunnies trying to attack me each time I enter my room.) So yeah. If you want to get rid of the plot bunnies, threaten to cook them. XD If you want plot bunnies, start eating some carrots.

RE: PLOT BUNNIES

xD Not so much a plot bunny but as soon as I decided to work on Screnzy I has a sudden urge to write something completely different in the form of a fanfic. xDD Two ffs, to be precise.

I have nothing witty to say here. Please move along.

RE: PLOT BUNNIES

Stupid, evil plot bunnies. I hate them with a burning passion. They make my life a living heck. I end up typing them on my ancient laptop, where I can't work on them for Screnzy even if I wanted to. It works, keeps me moderately focused on my script.

RE: PLOT BUNNIES

Index cards. That's smart. I've been using the 'scrunch millions of notes on a single sheet of notebook paper' method. For some reason it seems more logical to squint over the paper, trying to decipher the pencil squiggles, rather than write everything neatly on index cards, which I am bound to lose. Incidentally, it's worked really well for me thus far! =D

I try to pace myself - write the scene I planned, then head offline to mull things over. That way I don't end up spending hours in front of a hot laptop scratching my head (and inevitably distracting myself on last.fm or the games forum).

What's interesting is the more I write THIS script, the more ideas I get for OTHER stories. Hopefully the inspiration will continue when Screnzy ends, haha.

RE: PLOT BUNNIES

It seems like the more I write this script, the more ways i find to incorporate it into every other story I've ever written. Thus far, the climax of two different stories have happened at the same time, in the same club, and they have absolutely nothing to do with each other except that my Screnzy has a random, winged prostitute getting fought over by his foster parents...

RE: PLOT BUNNIES

I know what you mean. When I go to work on my script, the plot bunnies start to form and it ends up in a completely different direction. This is supposed to be a action/fantasy script, not a romantic comedy! Gah!

RE: PLOT BUNNIES

Well, I have a love/hate relationship with plot bunnies. Sometimes they are good, and other times I give them a good rasteira.

I got two story idea's while doing screnzy, one about a girl who ends up trapped with a friend of hers from school in a room that is filling up with solder (and the friend is a guy. Come on plot bunnies... any original idea's?) and a girl who starts taking Capoeira classes in secret after her mother forbids her to go. Eventually she has to go to france and use her Capoeira skills to save her mum. The second one, well I can understand how I got that idea, because two of my MC's do Capoeira. As for the first one... don't ask. I have no idea. My plot bunnies have minds of their own.

Also, at the very start of screnzy, I thought of nine script idea's. So I now have enough workable idea's for the next 11 screnzys. I so didn't plan that. I promise!
