Weddings?!

Romantic comedies love weddings, unless weddings love romantic comedies.

I'm pretty sure I'll be including a wedding scene in the end. I can't be the only one!

Is there a wedding scene in your script? When does it take place? Who are the bride and groom, main characters or secondary characters or maybe total strangers? Is it crashed? ;)

Let's discuss, people, it's what the forums are for, right?

RE: Weddings?!

Mine is all about weddings- two weddings in fact, the only problem being they share a bride. So I've got two romantic proposals, two engagement rings, two future mother-in-laws, showers, and maybe a little too much shopping due to two registries. I think I'm going to cut it short of an actual ceremony, but the audience will know which man she has picked in the end. After my real engagement fell apart, I need to purge all this wedding stuff out of my head somehow, and this seems more productive than burning my invitations in the fireplace.

RE: Weddings?!

My screenplay starts with a wedding, and ends with a wedding. A subtle theme of the story is "Lonely girl finds all of her friends and family are getting married and she's doomed to be single for the rest of her life." I think all in all, I have four weddings and an engagement party. They are all friends of the MC (well, one is her sister's), and I think my favorite piece is that throughout the film you see her refridgerator door fill with wedding announements, engagement party invites, bridal shower invites, and baby announecments.

RE: Weddings?!

Mine is in the end between the secondary characters, but there is a fun twist that has to do with something that happened earlier in the movie.

RE: Weddings?!

I have a pre-wedding getting ready scene, but it is a farce- the male best friend is dressing up as the bride to be

RE: Weddings?!

"Josh Kempley! I almost got married to JOSH KEMPLEY!" - lawl.

A lot of these wedding scenes sound absolutely fantastic. I especially love the one with the two competing wedding parties - it sounds hilarious.

The whole discussion gets me thinking, and I'm wondering if a wedding would be a good mid-point for my script. The story needs something to happen around the middle that the characters can work toward, and I think it might be a good opportunity to get the entire continent suitably distracted from the Big Bad. Hmm... ooh, yeah. I'm taking this away for some serious mastication.

RE: Weddings?!

Well now I'm wondering if a wedding would be a good ending. My MFC Carly runs into her old high school friend/crush Luke, but she hasn't talked to him in years since she left and lost contact with everybody including her family. Luke shows up and Carly's old feelings begin to surface. Everybody can see Carly loves him but herself which leads to comical moments.

Wedding??? ummm. I don't know. That might be a good idea. I'm 100% sure Carly will finally admit she loves Luke in the end, but what do you guys think about a wedding. I don't know. I'll have to ponder this question.
